[Searching] Improved drone carriers?
Is there a mod that improves drone carriers like Cerberus and gives them more space for drones?
Re: [Searching] Improved drone carriers?
No, but you can use Lint5's Ship Collection (Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/x4foundations/mods/811, can also be found on Steam; Vanilla and vro packs avail.), It has new Paranid ships, one - Hephaestus - is a destroyer with 120 drones (and 16xS, 1xM class landing pads). It can be used as a 'drone carrier'. It has no carrier options by the way, so you have to resupply it yourself or assign a resupply ship to it.
Re: [Searching] Improved drone carriers?
VRO changes the "Frigate" class Drone carriers to have additional capacity. I think the Osprey for example can carry 30+ Drones IIRC, which actually makes them pretty effective. Seeing one of these ships with 30+ drones escorting them is pretty cool, plus they can chew up fighters rather effectively. I guess performance might suffer though if you have groups of these all with their drones deploy actively engaged in combat though.
VRO makes lots of other changes too and requires a fresh game start, but I'd not be without it personally.
The only issue to be aware of though is that the player cannot control how aggressive drone use is. I.e. such a ship with Drones set to "Defend" or "Attack" for example, won't field many drones at once. Only using "Escort" will all Drones be deployed. I'm unaware of any mods that influence this behaviour.

Yeah I agree with this, VRO is nice.Scoob wrote: ↑Sun, 15. May 22, 15:47VRO changes the "Frigate" class Drone carriers to have additional capacity. And yes drones need love, when you say launched defend or attack or something, it should launch all your drones. Would be nice if you could have a submenu that allowed you to say launch this many at a time, something I want to see for repair drones too, the ability to have 10 rep drones and say launch only this many at a time or all.
Re: [Searching] Improved drone carriers?
I've looked at VRO previously and makes a few changes that make me unwilling to install it, plus I don't wanna do a new start because of it. I'm pretty comfortable in my current playthrough.
A lot of stuff still needs love in this game, sad considering how long it's been out and how many DLC's it has received (combat AI fixes, return of bombard orders, better fleet action, etc.).
Thanks for the link!wanderer wrote: ↑Sun, 15. I guess I have to figure out how to mod myself then. xD
