Greater Than Sign in front of my name?

Why Do I have a Greater Than Sign in front of one of my ships name? and How do I remove it?

Are you saying when you change your ship's name there is always a "<" sign in front?

I figured it out, it has to to with the targeting system. I have to make sure that I target Something else, then it will take that > off the front of the name.
