Shipyard in Leap of Faith?

Just curious :
What happens if you build a shipyard in Leap of Faith (or have the HQ+Ship building modules teleport there), will NPC factions still buy ships from the shipyard in that sector and have their newly constructed ships stuck in that sector for all eternity?
