Phew, I did it! Using the keyboard fire command made such a difference to my ability to hit things lol.
It's an easy mistake to make (& forget if you're coming back to X3 after several years), but glad I could help! :)

Could someone plz explain how this is done?

I have always used mouse aiming and firing and it worked beautifully. Never tried "key board firing" except for random time consuming spacewalk hull repair.

Use the mouse to control ship direction (& speed if you care); when the target lead pip flashes red/blue use <CTRL> on the keyboard to fire. It makes strafing awkward with only a MKB setup, but that shouldn't be so much of a problem as the auto-aim is good enough to worry less about incoming fire (IMO, & I'm a useless dogfighter!)

If the lead pip doesn't flash* (or you can't see it due to colour blindness or similar), try to keep it within the boresight radius that seems to be it's 'hot zone' (sry: I can't demonstrate this easily without a video clip).

*Make sure you've either Fight s/w installed & enabled (using 'k' for on/semi/off) to make use of auto-aim (it may not be installed in <startership>)!

I think I managed to grasp this.

Instead of using right mouse button to change ship direction and fire, I used keyboard for all maneuvers and fired the guns using ctrl. Accuracy has improved a lot !

I wonder why there is a dissonance though. Is it a bug? I mean, in both instances I use the same ship, same weapons etc, only the controlling method is different.

I also suggest to get HEPT or PACs for the Nemesis. Never liked ISRs on M6 ships because they are almost useless against fighters and they use too much energy. On a sidenote I really appreciate the increase in manoeuvrability for the Nemesis (I think it will be the same for other races), this class of ships was garbage in TC, pretty good in AP and it looks like we got even more improvements in FL!

My solution was to use the m6 as a ram, have the m4 and m5 do their turns, then when they come to me, align to them and just smash against them. worked pretty well. at some point, if you are low on shields due to multiple ships firing at you, jump out, recharge, back in. The allied ships helped with the m3.

If you hit <space> to enter classic flight mode during combat, you can still use the mouse for manoeuvring & simply use <CTRL> for firing. I found this a lot easier than keyboard only for both, but YMMV

I gave up fighting and bought myself a phantom. Running non combat missions now. Hoping to sell the Nemesis to buy a Skiron and restart fighter pilot career again soon.

This fight annoyed me to no end. The Nemesis must be the absolute worst ship I have ever had the displeasure of flying. Tried both semi and auto aim on, and I had prepared for the fight with both 4x ISR and 4x HEPT, in two weapon groups. Neither was able to hit even damaged M3's enough to finish them off - even when they stood almost still! And I fly with a VPC Constellation Alpha high-end joystick and am fairly adept at dogfighting. I cheesed it with OOS combat, and then switched everything back to my Susanowa (Yaki start) and killed the last ship IS, easily I might add. Could have probably just done the whole mission with that one, but I like bigger ships particularly in X3 when every gate traversal can kill you if a bigger ship than you occupies the same space.

Now to try and get the Terran plot started so I can get an M6 that can actually be used. Are those two the only plots in FL or are there more?
TC: All plots completed. ATF Tyr and Odin successfully boarded. Aran found and boarded.
