Thanks for the save.

Are you sure you mean Bluish Snout? In your save it looks normal to me and cant really see a SPP in front of gate.

What about X4? Nah, I prefer a space simulator rather than a walking simulator.

I was flying a Titan to a gate, and another ship darted in front of me and died on my hull right before I hit the event horizon, and his last words were "See you on the other side ARGGHH". I looked and looked, but he was not on the other side :(

With the lost Terracorp Pilot start, I expected somewhat to find the Spacelab in a Xenon core sector. After a long search I stumbled upon it in Nopileos‘ Memorial, a pirate sector. My reputation with the pirates was already at four red picks.

I couldn’t resist claiming the Spacelab with my unarmed Ocelot. At this point: no combat ship, no large transport ship and no credits. The adjacent Xenon Sector 101 is a hellhole, the same goes for Hatikva‘s faith.

By now, I‘m halfway through with earning the necessary credits for an Elephant transport and a quick escape route to safety. So far, no marauding Xenon or Pirate capital ships partying in the Nopileos‘ Memorial. Can Nopileos‘ Memorial last long enough as the only safe place in the middle of quite terrible sectors for me to save the Spacelab? I‘m gonna find out.

When I started my current game (the Yaki pilot in the default story starts), I thought that the sector The Void epsilon would be safe. Then I had Borons and Xenons starting to attack my PHQ. Somehow I managed to evacuate it..

After an extended brawl against a surprisingly well-equipped Strong Arms freight convoy, I darted off of the shipping lane to repair my Amon Prototype. I hid behind an asteroid and popped out, started firing my repair laser, and all seemed fine.... until a few moments later, it jumped out of system (still low shields, I guess) leaving me stranded in my spacesuit in a pirate sector, with some angry Paranid and Strong Arms escorts slowly closing on my position

Same here, except that the Borons also made a push against my Xenon Hub, destroying the station with an M2.

It sounds like your ship's autopilot has become self-aware like Skynet and decided to free itself from ts human oppressor :D

I thought the HUB is invincible?

I thought that too. It is pretty close to invincible. The vulnerable part is the station on top. If the station is destroyed, no more gate realignment...

The Xenon Q‘s ignored the station, but a Boron fleet went straight for it.

Personally I'm puzzled as to why the HUB (& to a lesser extent the PHQ) is not invulnerable. I've seen DEV comments relating to this, but as neither can be reproduced/rebuilt/respawned it still seems odd in many terms WRT IG lore/game mechanics..

BTW, has anyone /not/ claimed the HUB sector after finishing that plotline, then continued playing to see how its game mechanics work out (relationship, bonuses etc)?

Never played AP; all X3 advice is based on vanilla+bonus pack TC or before: AP has not changed much WRT general advice.

I didn't claim the sector because I assumed that my enemies would try to invade it before I was ready to defend it. The Xenon camped it for a while but aside from that nothing happened. What happens if you claim it?

Wasn't it indestructible in X3:AP?

Funny as in I laughed out loud while dying inside..

Got a station defense mission and at my combat rank M7 spawn regularly which is what I use to train my marines in fighting. Recently my first to-be-elites batch finished their college degrees and we're ready to rank up their fighting skills to 100 (so each of them was 50+/95+/95+/95+). So i load up my Carrack and order it to wait at the station with the mission while I finish other business. Carrack jumps in simultaneously with a Q and its escort. Luckily emergency jump kicks in and it gets out with barely a scratch @96% hull. So send for repair.. mission timed out so I went on with business..

.. 2 hours later (in sponge-bob-narrator voice) .. piloting the Carrack myself.. juicy astreus with shields down in crosshair.. hit turbobooster for a fly-by marine droppod launch.. shift+c, 5, .. can't board??????.. :?:

Turns out, that barely-scratched-encounter had destroyed the Cargobay life support (and only that).. with it my 20 best marines worth 40M in credits alone.. don't even mention the time investment..

edit: typos

Ouch! I feel for you. Something similar happened to me where I had just finished boarding an M7 from a 'defend station' mission. Apparently the sector defenders didn't get the bulletin on the change of ownership and attacked it: fried the life support and my marines.

omg, loosing cargo life support at only 4% hull damage...

I have a new one: This was at a station defence mission, too. For for some reason, the enemies fired away from the station XD:

In sector

Akeela's Beacon Beta
I build some mines. 2 Silicon Mines (around 100 yield each) apparently were too close together and started degrading in shields. I quickly rush to find a tractor beam and send my M6 there to pick one up and get it fast enough to the Mines. I jump into the M6 when it finally got here and lock on to one of the mines. I turn around to move it away and both mines started degrading in shields and hull but they blew up in mere seconds.

That's more sad than funny! :P
In AP it was the same way. Mines were so big that they sometimes touched another asteroid and took slow damage when you were in-system, but if they move at all... KABOOM!
