[unlocked] Achivement 'Rare Blueprint Collector'

At long, long last I was able to unlock the Achivement 'Rare Blueprint Collector' and by this also 'Master Collector' -
both locally in game and on Steam (X3FL 1.3 vanilla). I thank everyone involved or contributing to this endeavour! :D

Please say so, if interested in a savefile leading up to this.
(You would need to get a Teladi Kite Vanguard at low Honor to proof your worth :P ...)

I heard there is an overlooking in some blueprint collection achievements when you have to obtain blueprints you actually can't, like UFO blueprint. Was is fixed since then?

No it was not yet fixed for the vanila game (should be in the unofficial patches 1.3.1 and 1.3.2, which I havent tested yet)!

A more skilled and benevolent soul gave me the required (but unobtainable) blueprint of the UFO to my still vanila game.
I can't reproduce this myself, thats why I offered my 'hacked' save file for those in the same 'need' ... as it might EGOSOFT take some more years to release another official patch.

At this point in time not if your un-modified. Cycrow has added that as a feature in his unofficial patch.

Btw, if you got Master Collector it should mean you had got Industrial Collector. How does it work with station blueprints? Does every station require an agent that would try to obtain it?

Sounds nice. I went the old fashioned way (pen&paper) for ships. Its different for stations (as unlocked blueprints will not show to buy/steal again).

I'm not entirely sure. By and large I bought/stole every blueprint offered at any shipyard. With some stations (linke Wheatfarms I think) it was enough to get them from one faction (ARGON versus Yaki/Pirate?). Some station (M-Mines from TEL/NMMC) I had to get double despite seemingly beeing identical (wrong name on NMMC versions?) ... and with some (Construction/Extensions/Upgrade Kits) I went the save route and got them all ... from any source...

... and for savety measures I sticked always to the same shipyard until I 'depleted' it as a source (because of that fabeled(?) inceasement of success-chance.

I mean, if I can't find the station I need in the EG offering, then I have to send an agent to unlock it for buying or try to steal it by the agent, right? It seems, I can't just buy the station and RE it.
You mentioned that you have 688 blueprint, but only 354 are for ships. Does that mean that I have to send 300+ agents to get all the stations? I believe, it'd take weeks of real time.

You are right. :mrgreen:

To make matters worse, you may need more then one agents on some blueprints.
So max out reputation with your targeted faction (for buying) and always keep your Influence Boni (or how was that named?) up on all time - so you may reuse high-task-agents a few times on smaller/cheaper stations.

Just thinking outta my behind here at the moment, but you'd think they'd have included reverse engineer capability of bought stations at the PHQ. You can recycle them after putting them in, but not reverse engineer. I guess this would have made using agents less needed, but they could still be employed against hostile races where you can't purchase them. Also, could have made boarding TLs a bit more rewarding this way. Much like going after Jump Beacons.

Do the Terran blueprints show up as discovery rewards after unlocking there area?

Honestly, I haven't been in a hurry to unlock it as I prefer hunting down special discoveries without having to deal with there zones. (And lack of jump gates).

Now that you mention it, researching stations by bringing them to HQ would be amazing! I get too bored every time doing agents to get all blueprints

I've been sending agents out mainly for increasing rep with the major races, I might have to start using them to get more of the more common equipment since I can no longer just send ships to Getsu Fune and expect everything to be available to kit them out.

Yes. I just saw an explorer's guild for the first time. It was a Kyoto for 15 million, but that's still a Terran blueprint.

The only thing that pops up for me now without unlocking them is the Aran at 33 million. I'll keep that in mind. I'm holding back as I don't feel like letting there rep tank off the bat. Plus I don't feel like dealing with the special discovery spawns in Terran space yet. :D

Oh... I hadn't even thought about the special discoveries yet. I haven't had any yet, but I haven't been hunting them for the last little bit. I couldn't even slow the slide with them because I'm trying to maintain things with the other five.

I did get enough to scout them (sadly that explorer never got to come home). And with my tuned up Ranger, I can avoid about anything at 670 m/s if I'm cautious. It's too bad jump beacons only work for friendlies. Otherwise I could use that when I snuck in. I setup some distance satellites so I can view owned ships of particular stations :twisted:. Also managed to cargo hack some EM cannons from a station since they weren't using them anyway....

There are a couple scripts you can use to find them. If you got the unofficial patch installed your already modified. But they can be used in a way to stay un-modified.

You can always acquire your own jump beacons, or even the temporary one from home of light (Terracorp). They probably aren't using it anyway. :twisted:

You know, those stations and there homebased ships is mighty handy. Especially when Duke's Zeus spawns 60 km from my missile boat and I want to lob some hammer heavy torpedo's from that distance. :lol: Can target it, and it's escorts with ease. Though they probably need some asper cream after those Hammers go up there, ahem..... :twisted:

And a Springblossom with Turbo can do that speed, in short bursts. You can always use a Starburst or Arrow to get in and out of places too. Nice 1100 m/s natural speed. I wonder how using Turbo Boost on those things would feel.

I should do that more with one of my quick ships. Agents are the best of rewards. I didn't realize early on that you could get them in missions, so I was burning lots of discovery points on them. Those points are precious lol
