[XBTF] Xenon M2s

Im at the end of the game, where i need to destroy the Xenon M0.
That's no problem, the problem is after that i need to escort the Argon ship back to Argon space.
However it's a slow ship and gets killed easily by Xenon M2s.

So i wanted to see if i can destroy these M2s, but its really hard. I have 2 x beta HEPT, and the 2x25 MW shields.
However the M2s are so fast that they replenish their shields before i can catch up to them and deal more damage.

Any tips for fighting these ships? Would Gamma HEPT really make a big difference?

I can't remember, and I have no recollection of that escort mission. Therefore, couldn't have been extremely hard.

I'm quite sure though that I had the gHEPTs by that point. The gHEPT is the strongest gun in the game.

Yes, Gamma-HEPT make a big difference in killing the M2s, but as you mentioned they are insanely fast, but they do also turn pretty awkward. So if you only have a moderate number of engine tunings installed you really need to make use of your better turning rates and try to get in front of them. To keep up with the M2s you need 18 Engine tunings (costing you 8.888.400 Cr in total) just to match their speed. If you want to engage on your own terms and be able to run away you should have at least 22-24 Engine tunings (with total costs 15.5 mill or 19.8 mill respectively).

When you engage them coming at you, you can still use Hornet missiles, but only when they are coming directly at you. They will just outrun them at any other angle.

Otherwise your best chance is to get the best ranks with all the nations in the X-Universe so they all do send their M1s on your mission to kill the X-M0. Any fighters attacking the Argon One it can take care of itself. And you really need to escort it out of the Xenon sectors which takes at least the better part of an hour without SETA.

You can also use objects such as the xenon shipyard or gates. Like a matador with a bull, you wait and move out of the way at the last minute. The xenon M2 can't manoeuvrer quick enough to avoid it. Be careful if using gates though as they can get destroyed if you not careful. Asteroids could be used but I don't think there are any in the enemy sectors in XBTF.

There's no such thing as Out Of Sector combat in XBTF.
Just leave the sector with the Argon One and do your business. It will arrive to its destination without a scratch.

I did that but the ship never arrived.
Thanks for the replies but i gave up trying as ive essentially finished the game anyway. Installed X-Tension
