X3R Crashes when using comms

Hello, I'm brand new to the series and got x3 reunion, however I can't see any character portraits/avatars and when I landed in the very first station whenever I try to "comm" someone it completely freezes. To clarify the whole avatar problem the screen where you would see them talking is completely blank, but I can still hear them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, running in windows 7 and I'm pretty sure it's the most recent version ... Updated the game from the most recent update on the official website

Happens anytime anywhere on QuickStart, using integrated graphics card :/ I know my laptop was never the best gaming rig but I usually somewhat get by .. Can at least run swtor on lowest settings and swgemu great, and hitman blood money on good settings, etc.

Your Intel graphics driver and RealTek sound driver are both well out of date and probably are not designed for Win7 SP1. Update your drivers from the Intel and RealTek sites respectively and do not rely on Windows Update to do it (you want RealTek HD Audio Codec R2.75 for Win7 x64 - not sure about the Intel driver but see further down).

You are using the onboard Intel graphics chipset rather than a discrete graphics card that would have a decent amount of VRAM. That could well be an issue for you as many older chipsets do not meet the minimum requirement for X games.

You have Cyberlink codecs that *might* be an issue with X games. They are removed by uninstalling the Cyberlink applications that put them there (such as PowerDVD etc) - as long as you do not need them of course.

You have Win7 x64 so why not treat yourself to some more RAM as a cheap upgrade to your system that will see some real general and gaming performance benefits for a system with a lowish clockspeed cpu - unless you intend to upgrade the whole system any time soon.

It's really weird to me because the game runs fantastic ... It's only when it involves comms it gets weird!

Unfortunately the updated drivers still didn't solve the problem :/ I might just have to wait until I'm able to get a better computer! Still doesn't make much sense to me in regards of it running great fps until I hit "comms" then completely freezes.

Post a fresh DxDiag with the new drivers etc and we can see what else might be the issue - I suspect it is something to do with the graphics chipset though.

We'll good news! Got my hands on terran conflict, and it works fantastic weirdly enough. Guess it works out cause I hear lot of people say TC is better than reunion. Now to take my time and enjoy the game!
