[XTM] - plot Farnhams Legens mission, heeeelp!
Hi Everyone
Been a long time lover of the X series, but tend not to post much.. I've recently come back to make a good effort at finishing the plot of X3:reunion (I'd played alot, but barely touched the plot) and am finding it tough!
I'm only on the second mission, to Farnhams Legend to get back the Gem - Still in the original buster, with a bit of engine and rudder tuning, the standard Particle (beta) weapons and some Mosquito missiles, along with the Combat systems - as soon as the Pirates come out, I get absoloutely sledgehammered and blown to bits in about 15 seconds.
Now I'd been past this mission before, but that was not with the Xtended Mod... can anyone help with some advice? has anyone had this difficulty before? - it's only on Normal mode

Finally captured the "Unknown M6" (Spoilers)
Hi all! I've been lurking these forums since X:BTF, I am Lurker lvl 9000!
...Anyways, I've been playing X3:R with XTM .75 and after only being able to find snippets of information (in German I might add) on the subject I finally caught the "Unknown M6" or using the Otas HCF Otas Custodian and a LOT of troops!
In doing so I also came up with a great tactic for capturing:
The Custodian is amazing! By filling the Custodian up with Flaks and PBEs it can shred capital shields very quickly, provide bullet proof fighter defense and hold all your spare troops and energy cells all while keeping your HCFs shields topped up!
I have to say...
As you can see , my play through is nearing an end in what I can accomplish and I'm looking forward to starting TC and AP before rebirth releases.
I'm not sure how many people are interested in the finer details of how I accomplished this but feel free to ask any questions or if you would like a guide of sorts or tips for anything X3:R / XTM related then please do ask away!

The Mantis is incredibly powerful, it's no wonder it has something like 3600 internal defenses, the Sohnen Beam Cannons did not disappear after I captured the Mantis as I seen some people claim. It has the speed of a fast M3 and those cannons take down a destroyer in 2 charges from 5.6KM away! I just used it with my HCF (Which it docks inside just fine) to clear a Khaak sector except for one destroyer, claim the sector (Sector takeover script), then captured the last destroyer.
I'm not sure how many people are interested in the finer details of how I accomplished this but feel free to ask any questions or if you would like a guide of sorts or tips for anything X3:R / XTM related then please do ask away!

I manage to finally capture the Mantis. The capping process took several hours. The problem is: after I capture it (in Unknown Sector near Unholy Descent) I send it to the nearest Trade dock. The Mantis was ~600km from the center of the sector so it took time to get there. In the meantime I did other things and suddenly I get a message from "Sohnen Collective" that they did not give me access to their tech and DESTROYED my Mantis. I didn't even test it. That is really frustrating. It also ruins my plans to capture Basilisk. I have no goal any more .
Can somebody point me to the script that creates this annoying event? Thanks.
PS. The captured Mantis also has Terran and Yaki as foe and I don't know how to change this.

No, the 0.75 Version has been out at least since "Last edited by Aragon Speed; 17-11-2009", copied from this thread .

Test it! Go and shoot at a Rock Beetle. If you know afterwards why I warn you, then you have 0.75. If you don't see the point, you are still on 0.74.

I have been looking for several days, didnt find any so I had a look at the change log. Another question - are universe traders not able to use the jumpdrive in terran sectors? They are level 14, have 25mj shields, jumpdrives, trade/fight softwares and even some fighter drones but they dont jump from one sector to another.

Firstly, congrats! I know how much of a chore that is to cap and it's a shame that happened to you!
If I remember correctly, my Mantis went rogue when I wasn't in it, started flying away and attacking everyone on the way! I managed to transport into it and change it's friend foe settings. I didn't let this happen again. Essentially you can only use the Mantis as a player ship or left docked in a station or larger ship (I keep it in my HCF) otherwise it will go haywire and kill everything getting you into a lot of trouble in the process.
Not sure if you seen your Mantis get destroyed but it was at the hands of 2 'enemy' mantis that will hunt it down even if you're in it. They came for me a few times actually, guess I've killed a good half dozen of them now and I think (fingers crossed) that they've stopped coming!
How did you get your Mantis? Did you follow any of my tips?[/spoiler]

In older versions of XTM I heard players saying that number of ships was decreased a lot to get better performance. Also remember someone was complaining that it was few traders left flying around causing problems with buying and selling.
Is this still the situation in latest version of XTM 0.7.5?
I love many ships flying around making the game feel alive, but if only ships that actually dont have any ingame purpose/task except from flying around, I have np if only those have been removed.

IIRC XTM has an option to eliminate those NPC-ships that are in the game for 'colour', as Spacefly Hunters, furniture delivery, Casino, Hospital ships, taxis ans do on. Can't remember any option to reduce the number of traders/sector defence or the like. In other words: XTM does not reduce the traders 'by default'.
I don't think that you would need those options (if they exist) nowadays as the CPUs of modern PCs are much more performant than those several years ago.
