@Alm888

I admit, I am not the typical example of a Russian. Thanks for noting on the state of the economy though. All I get from 1TV and propaganda press is that how everything is peachy

So we need to surrender to Kaiser, hoping that we can avoid Hitler?
What a joke.

I keep noticing that the ones who complain about Western abuse of power and hypocrisy (which admittedly are plenty of historic examples) at same time totally ignore Putin's abuse of power and hypocrisy. While Putin threatens with nuclear strikes, the very same people discuss legality of freezing assets of the guy threatening with nukes...go figure...

Semantics don't win wars. And we are in war. As to those who support Putin and are Russian, I will point out that instead of playing at keyboard warriors, there is perfect chance to support your side by joining the army. Enjoy the fresh air at the front instead of those that oppose such assignment*:

@ warrenwolf
i dont need to .. i let russian / ukrainian winter fight for me :P (and time)

no, seriously, i just give you all (or some of you) a picture of yourself (like a mirror)
there is no right or wrong in this war. ukraine never had the right to pursue anti-russian policies, neglect procecution of ukrainian nazis who burned some russians in a building in odessa, and never had the right to use tanks against protesting russians in donbas armed with sticks and stones (in the beginning!). the same is true for russia: they are now robbing land from ukraine, killing ukrainians on the streets and make em pay a very cold price by destroying their (energy) infastructure ... they are basically bleeding those ukrainians dry (donbas and the occupied south made about 80% of ukraines GDP before the war, ukraine has no money, no weapons, and no economy to sustain themselves: either they drive the enemy out or they gonna vanish from the map)

i dont like both policies, neither russian nor ukrainian
what makes me (no angry but) "annoyed" is the bigotry of those (writing here in this forum) who support westerners unconditionally ... no matter what

@ mr.who
the kaiser wasnt such a bad guy .. personally i dont like any monarchy (neither the british, nor the german, and i despise the saudis)
// this incest project should be wiped off planet earth, thats how i see it (sorry for those "strong" words)

You were frustrated with Ukrainians 1 month into the war for not surrendering so don't try to pretend to be neutral party here. You went even so far to suggest NATO dissolving - after the war has proven beyond doubt what happens if you are not member of NATO.
Heck, few years back you were very "understanding" about Putin's meddling in US election and his assassination of alleged traitor of his on UK soil if not outright directly supporting.

So color me skeptical about your non-bias...

On other hand enemy TV is entertaining Putin's devotees with presentations of Nuclear Attacks on UK. Yeah, I am unconditionally supporting who ever is against that lunatic. Slava Ukraini.

Nobody is Hitler. But Putin well represents the type of evil that Hitler characterized.

Russia needs to be kept down as long as it is actively invadimg and annexing lands and people that do not belong to them. Sanctions, arms deliveries to Ukraine, etc. Once they are defeated in their war aims and their leadership is replaced with those who do not have such ambitions to conquer other nations, I wish them every success and prosperity and would support something along the lines of the Marshall plan to help them rebuild a better, more humane society.

But I foresee much suffering for the people of Russia before they reach that point, unfortunately.

I think it's fair to say, that throughout human history, we've been handicapped by abuse of power, hypocrisy and bigotry. This war is playing out the same way wars have always done. Each side looks to allies for help and the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

In spite of every nation's dubious history, this is our time to decide what kind of world we want to live in. Clearly, contention between the ethnic groups involved in the Ukraine/Russia war have been long-standing and it seems unlikely those disagreements will be resolved no matter the outcome of this particular conflict.

Keep in mind that time and time again we see internal politics of western countries bleed into the discussion here, especially German politics and they can explain some of the narratives we find. Many people in Germany dislike the more established parties, especially the Greens, but there are certain groups on the political fringes that have cultivated a deep and intense open hatred for everything done by them and they will oppose anything they do no matter the issue, as they see them as the ultimate evil.

If Baerbock would say that breathing is good for you they would gladly perish just to proof her wrong. These people and the parties that they belong to now, obviously, side with Russia because the established parties side with Ukraine. Furthermore Russia an some of the more fringe parties have shared interests in creating their own reality and thus often work to achieve the same goals. Here a bit more on that.

Recently their cooperation increased further with members of Germany's AfD going on a sightseeing tour through occupied regions of Ukraine.

easterners vs westerners is the nationalism talking
your tribe, theirs,
your nation, etc

same questions Russians struggle with, where atrocities are only not ok when someone else is doing them. Where the idea of truth always put in context of "which people or nation it benefits". Because it's always about your tribe above all else, for fascists, nationalists. That's the main perspective.

I support easterners, Ukrainians and Russians alike. I don't support the Russian regime. I didn't support it back when it wasn't obviously fascist either.

And I am not nationalist, I don't buy into their vision of reality. What is acceptable to do. I don't cheer for them to win

dude, i know many "russlanddeutsche", nobody thinks the way you described
the only difference(s) between a todays german and a so-called "russian-german" is/are that ...
-- those guys are stricktly parented
-- those guys are mostly devoted christians
-- those guys have suffered for generations and were excluded from society
-- many of them have lost family members in russian labour camps

hence, these people (often, not always) align with right-wing "afd" not because they are stupid, but conservative (since CDU is neither christian, nor conservative)
they want to be able to preserve their traditions of which they are proud
they cant really stand the liberals with their gay-lesbian-parades because this is not "right" in the eyes of god
they dont want their children to grow up like those [more racist terms removed - CBJ], roaming through the streets and make the hood unsafe

these are very respectable people ... you just need get known to one and convince yourself

and regarding you baerbock-"parable", this green-thinking has become nowadays mor of an ideology or a religion
any responsible person in power should do whaZ best for the (own) people, not whatZ best for the environment ...
hence, i care about being able to pay my bills and helping others around me, i've never been neither in russia, nor ukraine ...
it wouldnt affect my life if tomorrow half of ukraine population would fall over and be dead ... i'd only read about it in the newZ
(and of course, the one who'd be guilty of it would be clear beforehand: .. the putler, who else?! )

I call them stupid - as they vote the worst possible option which destroys the country. Afd is _NO_ alternative to CDU, no matter what. CDU is the bottom line IF you have to vote "conservative" (which I don't btw).

About the gay-lesbian-parades & muslim thing - that's just blown out of propotion and has nothing to do with reality. Typical populist mindsets which oversimplify things and spure people up with nonsense just to make them vote for them.

Hence people are stupid if they don't see through this cheap populists toolset.
