X3: Terran Conflict - Running Windowed Mode with Anti-Aliasing
Is there some way to run my game in windowed mode with antialiasing? For some reason the option to check "antialiasing" greys out when I select windowed mode. Can I force it in any way?

Yes and more. There's one tool that nVidia released that will help.
nVidia Profile Inspector allows more options than the X3:TC or GeForce Control Panel. With this guide below from PC Gaming Wiki, it's not entirely trial and error either. I listed my settings below. In the X3:TC launcher i've disabled both AA and AF. https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Nvidi ... _Inspector
X3:TC is a 32-bit D3D DX9 game. I believe it uses FXAA when in Fullscreen mode and based on what's said in the guide for profile inspector above, that may not be as useful. I mean you've seen the setting where you "Enhance" the game's AA setting, the guide above will go over the 8 different types of AA you can use in the Profile Inspector, some are only possible in the Enhanced mode. Also MSAA is said isn't usable without DX10.

I went with the arguably most demanding and best looking SSAA and still have frames are on this 2080.
More stuff?
Tested adding faux-RTGI in Reshade a few years ago and it doesn't function properly, I didn't expect it to as it's a space game often with one light source and not many ways light can be reflected. The planets gave off a neat looking, but fake glow.
Right now I'm looking into adding HDR.

I do hope something as detailed as the profile inspector makes it way into the new nVidia App which eventually will be a dark mode nVidia Control Panel: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/software/nvidia-app/
