Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
How do you fail repair data leak missions? I have had to abandon a few because they were inside the station but that was it..
Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
To fail a data leak repair mission you just need scan the leak in your spacesuit, or ship. What the mission wants you to do is get to the leak, get out of your ship, DO NOT get into scan mode, and repair the leak/broken bits with your repair laser.
If you decide instead to scan the data leak, the mission will fail. Nothing happens, you just lose out on the ability to complete the mission and get paid. But you can still pick up more data leak missions as you find them. It's a hit or miss way to get blueprints... if you get a mission to a station you don't have the blueprints for, and the leaks are on the modules you want.... you can scan the leaks while in your spacesuit instead of repairing them, and get the blueprint.

Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
Interesting... I thought scan mode just showed where they were, since I never saw an option to actually scan the leak.
Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
The way in which I see the Modes work.
Scan mode is for looking for information/Leaks in general.
Mission to repair, advises you which leaks to fix and gives you the location as per the Mission with needing to enter scan mode, as long as mission is set to Active, you'll see them.
Outside of this, as grapedog said;

Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
You don't have to actively scan. You also don't have to be in scan mode. Just fly close enough that the message "Scanning" appears. With a ship that's about 10 meters, in a spacesuit you need to get closer. You CAN scan data leaks behind the wall. Just aim your ship at the red light and fly closer.
Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
There is a way to avoid the station to turn hostile.
After deploying the EMP bomb return to your spaceship and detonate the EMP bomb from your ship, the station will stay calm.

I noticed that often when the leak appears inside the structure you can also go inside using space suit.
Had this on drone component and advanced electronics modules - i could just following the sound any some surfaces i could just go through in the spacesuit.
Advanced electronics looks pretty good from the inside..

Does this work for shipyard modules (ship fabrication L, XL etc)?
I tried it and all i get are trade offers and partners.
Also since i havent built a shipyard yet, do shipyards reverse engineer ships?

No and no.
You need to buy blueprints for both the modules and the ships.
Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
Modules yes. I managed to get the blueprints of the M class ship. Finding an abandoned ship (neutral faction), going out in a spacesuit and detonating an EMP bomb. Received 4 leaks. After scanning 1 received the ship's blueprints.BrasatoAlBarolo wrote: ↑Fri, 1. Mar 19, 08:59No and no.

I'm going to wait another week or so, to see how everything pans out, and then update the guide again. It's been a while since I created it, though not much changed until 2.0 came out. I appreciate little bits of info like this!

Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
I was thinking about trying the same when I'm far enough in the game to build a wharf. Nice to hear that it works. What about going on board a friendly ship and then doing the same?blin25 wrote: ↑Sat, 2. Mar 19, 18:30Modules yes. I managed to get the blueprints of the M class ship. With friendly ships it does not work. I could not get the ship's blueprint, only the data was decoded from 4 data leaks. No blueprint.RainerPrem wrote: ↑Sun, 3. Mar 19, 17:15

I'm going to try asap, thanks for the tip!
Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
Updated again, not much changed with CoH/v4.0.... stations are not getting angry even though after the second EMP they have strong words for you, which I imagine won't stay that way forever. Also, it's much more common to get the BP on your first EMP, along with a trade sub on the 4th data leak spawned. The next set of data leaks on a different module of the same station can give you the trade partner added relatively often.

Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
currently running 6.0 beta and when i launch emps they attach and go off properly and the 4 leaks appear but i get to scan one of them, they disappear and i do not optain any blueprints, i have done all the researches at HQ. I am currently trying to aquire the scrap processor off a teladi station...?
I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!
Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
Beta 6 issues go to the beta 6 board - preferably after a quick search if someone already reported it.dougeye wrote: ↑Thu, 9. Re: Guide on Stealing Blueprints - With Pictures
I don't think TEL stations have scrap processors. RIP stations do. Maybe TEL do, and I've just never seen one.
I've been playing a Vanilla game during this 6.0 beta, and I've had no issues with scanning EMP created leaks unless the leaks spawned inside the structure where I couldn't reach them, which is a known issue. But I've emp scanned at least 10 stations without issues.
If you are playing a vanilla game, and if the leaks are disappearing after you scan one leak successfully, that might be a beta bug. Id check the beta feedback forum and see if anyone else has already reported a similar issue, and if not, then you should report it with a save uploaded.
