Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
I know this was asked back in 2018, but there was never an answer.
Can the build plot size be increased?
I find the 20x20x20 to be way too small, and would like to be able to increase to something like 50x50x50.
Is that defined anywhere that can be changed?
If so, where?
I've got something like 4000 modules on my PHQ now, and no room to add any Terran or Boron modules. Neither buy ships from my shipyard, so I assume you need their shipyard modules for that. If so, I've no room to put them in.
But if I could up the plot size for the PHQ, I'd then be able to expand outwards and upwards.
Can it be changed? Or is it hardcoded.
If changeable, where is it?

Yes, when you go into the map the very bottom icon on the left hand size says manage plots. From there (which I'll go back and check for more in depth detail) you select which plot and there will be slider bars that come up with xyz standard to 2km. You simply slide it up to the size you want and pay for the licenses to expand the plot size.
Mind you I'll give a better answer later today as I'm not at my PC at the moment but that's the general way to get to it.

Re: Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
That's not what I'm asking.
The maximum size is 20x20x20.
I want to make that a lot BIGGER. Like 50x50x50, more than twice the size.

Re: Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
I've never seen or heard of altering the plot size over the cap in Rebirth or X4, as both are similar. I'm sure you already have overlapping modules enabled. If not, utilize that setting. You can also try removing all connecting modules that are useless for production. Modules do not need to be connected to work or count. If all else fails, try the shuffle button. Happy accidents sometimes happen. I don't know if it still works in the 7.0+ version but you used to be able to load larger plans on smaller plots. The best bet is overlapping modules and removing useless aesthetic/fluff connections.apricotslice wrote: ↑Wed, 4. Sep 24, 16:26 That's not what I'm asking.

Re: Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
That's not really the problem.
The shipyard modules for XL and L are the main problem, as you need full flow through the plot for each of them. So they use a lot of space nothing else can encroach on.
I'm wanting to add more of them, but there is simply no space for their fly zones.
I think they 'fixed' the ability to move things outside the plot. Besides, it only really works when you can 'grab' the whole thing, and keep the grab point inside the plot. On the build I'm using, that's not possible. Even some of my smaller builds, there is no one point you where you can select the entire build to move it on the plot.
It would be nice if you could just choose a module, select everything connected to it, and then be able to drag the whole thing around.
But the easier solution is bigger plots. I'm not sure why they limited it so much.

Re: Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
Yea, you're pretty much SOL if none is going to work. Speaking of adding build modules you could replace existing ones with a Boron/Terran tagged one. It doesn't matter what faction build module you have on your station just the blueprints owned and if you have the mats. Your original issue of them not buying from you is likely blueprints or your station settings. If that still doesn't work then I assume it's reputation. If that still presents a problem the only thing I can think of is your save is perhaps too old over many patch cycles. I have a save going currently where I have well-equipped shipyards with mega storage building/trading for each faction until I set them to total war. PHQ has always been a suboptimal station due to the deadspace with roid. Ring model and misaligned attach points are another glaring flaw. Roid hampers L and XL yards.apricotslice wrote: ↑Thu, 5. Re: Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
instead of modding the plot size to make space for the large exclusion zones for the docks, why not make the exclusion zones shorter?
If you dont block them visually ships will still be able to reach the docks.

Any idea how to do that? Which file especially.linolafett wrote: ↑Thu, 5. Sep 24, 15:18 instead of modding the plot size to make space for the large exclusion zones for the docks, why not make the exclusion zones shorter?

That might work if the parameters are changeable.
Specifying very short entrance and exit would let you put about 3 sets of them across the 20km, instead of 1 set.
That would solve the problem.

Search in parameters.xml for "exclusionzones".apricotslice wrote: ↑Thu, 5. Sep 24, 15:26Any idea how to do that? Which file especially.linolafett wrote: ↑Thu, 5. There are the sizes defined per ship size.
The L/Xl ones are the important ones for you. Reduce the last number (100000) to something smaller.
This is the distance in meters from the dockingbay, how much it extends from there.
Try something around 4000 for the beginning. Thats the distance a ship flys out of the dock before continuing with normal flight behaviour.

Thanks!
I'll post if it works or not.

Re: Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
I obviously don't have the code right for this.
These are the 2 lines in parameters.xml
This is my diff while which doesn't work.
Can someone correct it for me?
The debug spat the first one out as not being constructed properly.
Edit: Never mind. Got the fix from the Discord server.

Thanks for posting the fix for your xml patching
Did it solve your issue afterall? like does it solve the original issue you wanted to resolve?

Just about to test it now. Will advise.linolafett wrote: ↑Fri, 6. Sep 24, 10:09 Thanks for posting the fix for your xml patching

There is a little known fix to the plot size as well. More of a hack really, About to test that as well.
Edit:
The code works when inserted into an existing mod.
The other thing works as well.
Unitrader's Console Mod ads a pop up chat box to the game which allows commands to be given. One of them can change the plot size for a specific already existing station. I just did it on the PHQ, and doubled the plot size, and was able to add things in I've not been able to do before.
Unitrader is active on Discord in the modding area. The code is there if you look for it. But ask him for it if you want to try it.

Re: Build Plot size - Can it be changed?
Oh wow haven't seen unitrader in quite a long time. Euclid I remember as before he was hired by EGO he made a necessary trader mod for Rebirth. Pretty much same thing for this game although seems deprecated.apricotslice wrote: ↑Fri, 6. Sep 24, 10:33Just about to test it now. Will advise.linolafett wrote: ↑Fri, 6.
