Ah, thanks. :) I'll check that out. I have found more use for the gateless jumping, though. :D

I still have an ordinary jump drive installed, though. The advanced jump drive is well balanced, and thus, not too useful in an emergency. Better that way, though. :)

I think there isn't any problem with the advace jumpdrive it's all depend how many scripts you've got install.

the other way i found easier and quicker is just click reinit script cache

the shields is a known bug, but its one that i think i've managed to track down, so it *should* be fixed soon, i hope :)

for now, there is a quick fix, just delete the plugin.advjumpshields.xml file from the scripts directory, and it will stop the shields from going down

I think i manage to track down the bug in the shield and it looks like it gets into a indefinity loop somehow.

while deleting the script file solve the problem or using the free jump again may break the loop.

i modifed my script file plugin.advjumpshields.xml to the only line:

001 [PLAYERSHIP] ->set current shield strength to 0
002 return null

And that looks like it works and it's more realistic as you loose temporally your shields

No Stock

Hi, I see this problem has occured for others. I have the items listed but none of the stations have stock. Also the Uninstall isn't showing. I'm not much good at computers, I uninstalled everything and re-installed but it is still the same, could someone tell me how to overcome this in easy terms. Thanks in advance.

A little bit more info, I found the setup.uninstall.advjump when I dbl click I get
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

actaully the loop is designed so the shields stay down for the duration of the jump. The way ur doing it, would put the shields down but start recharging them before the ship jumps.

once the jump finishes it sets a varible to allow the loop to finish, but sometimes, it skips this and the shields remain down.

i will look at fixing that and the problem with 0 stock today

I'm i've got a few problems and i'm not into scripting but i'm not sure what's happened. I've doubled checked everything and i'm 100% positive that i've got everything installed right.... or just call be dumb.... fist problem it that for some reason the script has stopped the jump/fly-to-station (or position) command when using the normal jumpdrive, which i have found very frustrating. I have a Mercury that I keep as back-up energy/missiles/weaponry that i jump around, and when i give it the jump/fly-to-station command to send it home or to me.... it just doesn't jump .... so i'm having to give the jump-to-sector command ...wait .... and then again dock-at-station after its jumped.... which gets rather fiddly and i often forget.... Secondly..... maybe i havn't installed it properly.... but if i have.... where???? does one buy the advanced jumpdrive or generator???? I can't find it anywhere???? Pirate base, equipment dock or goner temple or BSB????? Can anybody help me out.... I'm prepared to learn a bit of scripting if someone points me in the right direction.... Thanks....

there are 3 items available, the Advanced jumpdrive, the energy generator and the targetting scanners. The energy generator is used with the standard jumpdrive to allow it to free jump, whereas the advanced jumpdrive is standalone. They should be available from both the goner temple and argon equipment docks

if there not there its likly you dont have emp installed correctly,
im not sure y the jump to station command isn't working, as the script has nothing to do with that command at all.

one more thing, have you made sure the script editor is enabled ?

yep.... Script Editor is Enabled.... With the EMP files.... I thought i got it right... I didn't over-right any files, but i had to extract it to another temp folder and rename them to 08, instaed of 07. the highest number +1 thing. Weird Hey... Just whle i got your attention... I recon your script are awesome. You really bring more to the playing experience..... Anyway... Strange.... I'll give it another shot at reinstalling the mods and see what happens. Nothing at the Goner Temple, so yeh it must be the Emp, as all your other scripts seem to be working fine.... I downloaded on the second mirror, as for some reason the first came up as a data file which i had to manuelly assign to winrar. Funny hey... probably just my buggy computer.... I'll get back... Cheerrs .....JoJO

well, my scripts come as .spk files, that require the script manager to install, not winrar

NOOO .... WINRAR to unpack it.... YES ... i'm using your script Installer.... I just had a thought that the Jump-to-station command might be a bug with the 1.4.03 Update, or this could have overwritten the Emp files... but they're still there... Let me get this right.. I unpacked the files 07.cat and 07.dat, renamed them to 08 each as there was already an 07 in the main X3 folder. Is that it???? to install emp. Thanks for the quick reply...JoJO

yyes that would work, or u could download the spk version from the first page, and use the script manage to install it, this will automatically rename it correctly for you

Finally i manage to unistall the advance jumpdrive and all the readtext how:

1. i open the .spk with xscript packager and notice the 3 uninstall files are in the package but if i try to save it it will give me error but with the file open with the packager go to xscript manager temp folder and found the 3 files

2. Copy those 3 files into X3 script folder

3. Run the game

4. Run the script editor and manually run the script setup.uninstall.advjump.xml

All gone...bye bye :D

Now reinstall it again.. :wink:

its best not to have the setup.uninstall file there as that will run everytime you load the game, all it does, is run the other script, so u can manually run the other script for the uninstallation to work

I may just going to do a pack with those 3 so i can enable/disable from the script manager any time and if i'm not wrong the manager will delete the files temporally into disable folder.

I don't think i ever had said but they are a great punch of scripts you wrote there and they don't mess other scripts or mods

great job

All of this has help me to learn a bit more about scripts and mods so now i can write scripts and even add new ships to my game

there really is no way to make a trule free jumpdrive, its hardcode to require energy cells
what this does it put the energy cells into the cargo hold so a jump can be made.
It's the loss of shields that's the pain :)

I'd imagine you could make a "truely free jumpdrive" by not using a jumpdrive. Check for one, get the position of the target gate, initiate a counter, then use a "move to here" on the ship?

that will only work in section
as you cant "move" the playerships to another sector

unless you want to auto pilot to move the ship, which you can do anyways as it just flys it, but instant travel to another sector is not possible, at least for the player ship, it can work for other ships.

the main problem is of course, moving the ship to another sector requires more than simply moving the ship, it requires loading the graphics to the new sector, etc

Hi Cycrow - Just installed your updated script after reinstalling X3 and starting a new game...have therace relation requirements been altered?

I used to be able to get the advanced jumprive without problems but now it looks like I need to be a Marshall of the Federation (I wasn't before either). Is there any easy way a non scripter can alter the requirement?
