Yep Russians surely gave some pointers there.

Question to all Trump supporters, so how many thousands of Canadians and people of Greenland are Americans prepared to kill? You would need larger prisons too. See Russia was prepared. Is US?

In other news, Trump aka government wants to sue for free speech, and his government agencies want to punish companies for anti discriminatory practices. And get this, they also say they are against "discrimination".

Another take from Kremlin, nice one.

We don't like Trump, but Vance could be even worse (for the world) as he's even worse with diplomacy than Trump (unbelievably). Now what Putin's been saying (regarding Greenland).

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/ ... orld-order

But the reality is, Trump et al. can just keep going... keep pushing and see where the red lines reside. So far, they've not touched one have they? Because there *seems* to be no real reaction other than noise. Over here it just seems like hand wringing by parts of the populace / opposition, and capitulation by companies and organisations. Read something which basically said they have to start things off now, because by midterm's they'll get nothing through if they're losing the vote.

As long as they keep going, pushing at the boundaries across a wide area of issues (especially some that appeal to their voter base - so the border stuff, "help manufacturing with tariffs"), both quickly yet incrementally (so nothing too radical that's not a direct appeal to voter base), they'll likely continue unrestrained. Under the wider promised policies cover, they can sneak in things that get lost in the noise.

What's the actual view in the US from non polarised opinions (i.e. how do swing voters see all this, or those that don't often vote).

As for Canada/Greenland/Panama - surely this is all slow burner escalation; currently feeling out, attempting to sow division (especially Greenland, constantly saying Denmark treats it badly :D ). Can't remotely see how it can end up with war against Canada. Requires Congress doesn't it, and while Trump's an utter nutter, I doubt he's that nuts. I'd be sceptical that the entire Republican party (or the military) would be behind war against a neighbour either; just a load of hot air backed by tariffs.

I heard a joke from Russian journalist who was in Finland a couple years ago.

He met a finish man who was buying soft drinks in glass bottles specifically. Why glass bottles? It's easier to fill them with gasoline.

Everyone north and south of US should start collecting bottles.

RFK Jr. to Gut Vaccine Promotion and HIV Prevention

“The entire staff of the federal government’s Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy is expected to be laid off,” CBS News reports.

“The moves are part of a broader restructuring plan ordered by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that involves cutting 20,000 HHS positions.”
Seriously? What is Trump, Musk and RFK doing here? isn't this going to start doing more harm then good? Along with the cuts to funding, it just seems that there won't be a health service to speak of, by the time these monsters have done with this. I don't see how this is for a greater good, but then again, is RFK just following Trump's or Musk's orders? America will only get sicker. especially with a nut that says that vit A is good against measles.

And
Signal Chat Flouted Rules on Classified Intel

“The Yemen attack timeline that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted to a Signal chat group would have been so highly classified, under Pentagon guidelines, that the details should have been restricted to a special, compartmented channel with its own code word and with access tightly limited,” the Washington Post reports.

“Current and former U.S. defense and intelligence officials described the lack of operational security, which leaked when the editor in chief of the Atlantic magazine was inadvertently added to the chat group among President Donald Trump’s top aides, as a potentially grievous espionage vulnerability. Russia, China and other hostile intelligence services constantly probe government officials’ communications devices for weakness.”
So basically, there were guidelines set by signal chat and the pentagon, but the clowns ignored them. Still, those clowns should be fired regardless. or step down. Probably won't be long before there is another security leak.

Edit

I spoke too soon, looks like the clown has broken security rules in two other instances. by bringing his wife to those events.
Hegseth Brought His Wife to Sensitive Meetings

“Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who is facing scrutiny over his handling of details of a military strike, brought his wife, a former Fox News producer, to two meetings with foreign military counterparts where sensitive information was discussed,“ the Wall Street Journal reports.

“One of the meetings, a high-level discussion at the Pentagon on March 6 between Hegseth and U.K. Secretary of Defense John Healey, took place at a sensitive moment for the trans-Atlantic alliance, one day after the U.S. said it had cut off military intelligence sharing with Ukraine.”

“The group that met at the Pentagon, which included Adm. Tony Radakin, the head of the U.K.’s armed forces, discussed the U.S. rationale behind that decision, as well as future military collaboration between the two allies.”
WTF? when did his wife get security clearance? otherwise, she had no business being there. This clown needs to go. which still begs the question, what other breaches has he done?

Donald Trump says he is not ruling out the use of military force to take over Greenland. I don‘t think I have to tel anyone how insane that is, but I‘d assume not only EU citizens, but also all American soldiers currently stationed in Europe find this option to be a bit concerning as if he does actually attack Greenland the would most likely be considered a hostile force and would be surrounded by enemies on all sides. I honestly have no clue how the EU would react if Trump took Greenland militarily. Maybe (likely) we would give in (?), but what if the EU refuses to yield and instead declares war?

I think I posted about this before, But yes, Trump is insane if he thinks he can do this. But I wouldn't put it past him. And with that clown in defence, that clown would likely give the go ahead. But if the senate opposes this? that is the real question.

But still, I think war could be very likely. I don't see the EU letting Trump get his way.

I'd like to point out that MAGA train rides on "we want peace, no new wars" narrative for quite long time.
It might be really hard pill for them to swallow, when soldiers start to return in coffins from Greenland (I bet 99,9% Americans didn't care or even knew it existed 1-2 years ago).

I want to think that even Trump/Musk fanboys still have some working brain cells left. I hope that, if order is given to take Greenland, US soldiers and Congress will know what is the right thing to do...<hint, hint, South Korea, wink, wink>

somewhat like Russian Putinists, American MAGA is pro war when it's not them who is dying. But they are pro violence more than other groups. As we have seen

I would like to take a moment to say something positive about America. Currently it seems as if demonstrations seem to be really taking off in a big way. Pictures from, among many others, Dallas are quite encouraging. Seeing that people are standing up and going out in meaningful numbers gives me a lot of hope for a domestic response should Trump do something really dumb.

Why Trump’s brutal crackdown on free speech is unprecedented in the US
Experts says rounding up protesters and taking control from universities goes beyond McCarthy’s witch-hunts
...
...
Rumeysa Ozturk, a 30-year-old doctoral student at Tufts, was ambushed by agents on the street outside her home and put in a detention center in Louisiana. She, again, was accused of supporting Hamas. But her only known activism, friends and colleagues said, was co-authoring an op-ed in the school newspaper amplifying a student senate vote demanding that the university cut ties with Israel.
...
...
Weeks before the 2024 election, the ultra-conservative Heritage Project thinktank released “Project Esther”, a 10,000-word blueprint for quashing pro-Palestinian and anti-war protests.

The Trump administration has not confirmed whether it has taken cues from the document, but it has adopted many of its suggestions, including pushing universities to restrict protests and reform their curricula. Last week, under threat of losing hundreds of millions of dollars in funding, Columbia caved to the administration’s demands to implement stronger disciplinary measures against pro-Palestinian protesters and take control of one of its academic departments away from faculty. The university agreed to adopt a formal definition of antisemitism that academics and activists say could be weaponised to harass and expel critics of Israel.
(given Guardian has joined the legion of "if you do not subscribe, then you must accept ALL cookies so we can sell data" - far less likely to use it as a source anymore).

And folks from the US/Russia and other rogue states regularly troll British media by claiming the UK has no free speech  As said, it's interesting to observe how things turn out - as in just how tolerant a US population are. It's already staggering to see what appears to be going on and support towards, and apathy against, it. But then again, there's not exactly wide coverage out here :D

Not in his tiny little world he is trying to shape. He already stated there are ways to achieve that. US citizens shouldn't underestimate the criminal energy here. If not actively prevented he WILL try it. Only reacting once the shots are fired in that regard might be too late. (basically same thing with finally realising what for a problem this candidate is for this country - a tad too late, too)

Isn't it the "Putin-esque" method of him not running for President (not allowed), but being the running mate (vice pres) of a Presidential candidate, who wins... and then steps down; so the vice pres steps up...

Putin-esque as I think that's what Putin did. Became Prime Minister while Medvedev or whatever his name was became President... pulled the strings, then back to being President in perpetuity thereafter.

Yep, Putin did that, and that was illegal in Russia too. Then he later literally "erased" his President years, in other words, he never was a president until right now.

One would assume that Trump has far bigger problems right now, given this headline: "China, Japan, South Korea will jointly respond to US tariffs, Chinese state media says" Keep in mind that as of now this is all based upon "chinese media says", so take it with a black sea worth of salt, but I would not be suprised either, if this actually turns out to be correct, as the three countries held talks the last couple days.

And the markets are getting rattled as a result. But I suspect Trump won't care, as he would likely think that the stock market is old news, crypto is what he is interested in now. But if that view is shared by his aides? that might be another matter.

Re: Trump Presidency

Post by felter »

I said I was not going to get involved with all of this, but it looks like I cannot do that, it's all just far too dumb not too.

Trump has absolutely no idea what tariffs are and how they work, he still thinks that it is the companies behind the products that pay for the tariffs for some insane reason he does not understand that it is the American importers that pay the tariffs not the manufacturer of those products. The Importers go to the manufacturer and says I want to buy 1000 of your great products the manufacturer goes great that will cost 1 gazillion the importer pays gets the products and ships them to America whereupon entrance to America they have to also then pay the tariff. The manufacturer has nothing to do with the tariff unless they are also the importer of course and that does not happen very often, most use third parties for that sort of thing. But hail Trump cannot fathom how this works, he thinks I introduce tariffs and the manufacturer in another country far away from mines pays that tariff, he even said so the other day there when talking about his upcoming car tax.

He also thinks that none of this will affect the price of any American cars, but those American car manufacturers get a lot of their material from outside the US, and he has put massive tariffs onto them also, like a 40% tariff on steel. For all of his bragging about being a great businessman, he has absolutely no idea how business actually works, maybe that's why he has been bankrupt so many times and has had so many failing businesses. Take steel, he thinks America can just magically make their own overnight at a reasonable price he doesn't take into account you have to find the right iron you have to mine that iron you have to build smelters to create the iron ingots so you have to build those you also have to power them then you have to turn that iron into steel and that's sounds easier than it actually is and once again you need the proper materials to do it. And this takes time I mean serious time years time but for some insane reason he thinks it can be done overnight, but then you also have the cost for it all you are talking billions and at the end of the day he's dead and buried and things go back to normal it is cheaper to once again import probably better quality steel and all those billions will have been wasted as all those new steel plants will be shut down as they will be unprofitable just like they are right now. But it's not just steel, it's everything.

Someone said they voted for Trump as he was going to get prices down, he was going to save them or and America a lot of money, as the other option would have cost them, how is that turning out as far as I hear it everything is going up in price in America apart from the stock market of course and have you noticed how now that the markets are crashing to him that doesn't matter where when they were doing great it was because he was great hypocrisy knows no bounds when it comes to Trump and his allies.

Damn didn't mean to go on a rant, but Trump is dumb, his supporters are dumb America is dumb, and they are getting exactly what they asked for so they deserve it, going I didn't think it would be like this just shows how dumb they are as everyone else in the world knew this was going to happen, but Trump said he would sort it all out, and they believed the conman was telling them the truth, now that is dumb.
