BBC is debunking false news of Russian paratroopers taking Kharkov airport in the East.
Meanwhile
CNN reportets are actually filming Russian paratroopers holding an airport 10-20 km from Kiev.

Seem like Belarussian troops crossed the border as well, so it's 2v1.
I have 1939 flashbacks.
From what I've read, it seems those were actually Russian troops who just happened to be based in Belarus, rather than Belarussian forces. Although Belarus is on record as saying they'll quite happily help out if Russia asks them to!

Cruise missiles are launched from Belarus and Russian troops launch attacks from Belarus - legally speaking Belaruss is an active combatant already, unless Lukashenka get into TV and start blinking in morse code "I'm held against my will, send help".

There are also things like:
- sharing satelite data
- sending loads of weapons
- taking wounded
- training volunteers
- taking refuges (the actual WAR refugees now, I bet now all media will give you about it is crickets)
There are a plenty of things you can do to support, but stupid media and stupid people are fixated on boots on the ground.
Ukraine has good army and disparity with Russia is not big if you consider that Russia is huge and has also other areas (including other potential flashpoints) to cover.
Maybe they can't will the war in the long run, but blood draw is well within their capability, which will be basically a major defeat for Russia.
is this the first time we agree?

Aparently there is an active battle in Chernobyl and nuclear waste dump got destroyed.
I checked the winds forecast for next few days - winds to the north (if you live in Finland you might be worried) then to East (karma is a b*tch) then to South later to the weekend.

Be grateful this is not happening in Balkans. Reactor caps would be blown open just to deny area to the enemy (late in the 90s wars, not in the beginning).
That being said, there are indications that this was translation error.

Russian civilians can also contribute with anti-war protests (as some brave souls already do).

Seems like there are anti-war protests in St.Petersburg and Moscow - looking at the footage each is at least several hunded people and according to BBC there is already 1000+ people arrested for anti-war protests in Russia.

Like China, Russia likes to crack down on such things hard.

Unsurprising that is exactly the rhetoric on Russian propaganda channels

Can someone explain why Russia would want to take Chernobyl nuclear power plant as one of their first targets? Isn't that still shut down, or is there some other nearby plant that is still operational? This doesn't make sense to me.

My bet is that Ukraine defence didn't assume Russia would be crazy enough to make push via Chernobyl, thus giving Russia an opportunity to actually think it's viable to push there to get into Kiev.
It wouldn't take much for them to utilize the radioactive waste to make dirty bombs... not that Russia is in any dire need for nuclear material. But it certainly would cause a lot of panic were they to set off bombs in the reactor and lob debris everywhere...

Agree. I was just about to write this when you posted your post.
There is danger that desperate Ukrainian seeing his country go under decides to utilize radioactive burn earth tactic.
