I am running XRM AP and have been experiencing a 5 second pause from time to time when playing. Know matter what I am doing or which sector the game pauses for roughly 5 seconds then continues with no issue. Quite annoying when this happens in the middle of a battle.
Anyone else experience this or know of a setting I am missing? The game runs great on my system very smooth just the pauses when playing.
I did try to post this in the support forum but it said I needed special permission.

I discovered the Linux ports of X3 et al. via Steam tonight... then promptly discovered XRM. I'm pretty happy with the thought of not having to reboot into Windows any more than I have to. I'm willing to buy X3 Gold Box, even though I've already picked up the box versions of Reunion and TC for Windows. XRM looks like it might just flare up that spark of interest into a full blown fire.
My only question regards that Steam validation of the game cache. How much of a PITA is that going to be, running under Linux? Looked to me like the "No Steam" executable for X3:AP available on Egosoft's site is Windows only, with no mention of a Linux executable.

You don't need it - just call X3AP_main directly (or X3AP_config); neither "calls" steam. So all you need to do is copy your steam X install somewhere else and you're set - well, apart from not receiving updates of course (which may still happen given its a BETA) !theluckyone17 wrote: My only question regards that Steam validation of the game cache. I actually run from the steam directory but use a bash script and git to allow me to handle steam updates (when there is a new update use git to reset branch to standard install, steam update, then run bash script to reinstall all scripts/mods).

That sounds like a script you have installed that does not have enough wait commands - I've certainly never had a report like this before, so its unlikely to be the XRM causing it. It may also be caused by a background task in Windows.Valen68 wrote:I am running XRM AP and have been experiencing a 5 second pause from time to time when playing. Hello
Well I have something like this a looong time ago, before I switch to Mk3 Improvement. It appears that vanilla trade commands are faulty in same kind, especially if you have more than five traders - from time to time it leads to complete stall of entire game. I have found some kind of solution for this problem - remove any command from every trader (command: none), wait 5 to 15 mins and activate trade commands again.paulwheeler wrote:That sounds like a script you have installed that does not have enough wait commands - I've certainly never had a report like this before, so its unlikely to be the XRM causing it. Hello guys i'm new to XRM so i need to ask something. I installed lowhullpack properly but i don't know it's working. Opened script editor then clicked R and selected null. But when i look my own ships their hull numbers are same. Then i selected only my ship and still the same. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong and how will i know if it's working?.

Hello
If you start new game you don't need do anything, new hull stats was already implemented. You need to run reloadhull script only if you added hull pack to existing game.gastovski wrote:Hello guys i'm new to XRM so i'm need to ask something. I highly doubt that starting new game is only way to force plot one step ahead.ColManiac wrote: What mods are you using? I have the standard AP 3.1 update and the uptodate XRM, if you have this try starting a new game. After I docked I got the next stage, it was to aquire shares from someone in the SOL system, after that just the usual bits and bobs to do.

Hmm the only scripts I have installed are the recommended ones for XRM. I will check any windows app's running in the background. I will let you know if I find anything.paulwheeler wrote:That sounds like a script you have installed that does not have enough wait commands - I've certainly never had a report like this before, so its unlikely to be the XRM causing it. I have no trade commands going right now as this is a new game. Any compatibility issues with XRM with the trade script you mentioned?Viliae wrote:HelloWell I have something like this a looong time ago, before I switch to Mk3 Improvement. Sounds like a good script. Since I am not doing anything in trading right now I need to look at the other scripts. I am using the AP non-steam.exe I will have to dig a bit. Maybe it's a windows app that is causing it as Paul suggested. So when I get home I will eliminate all nonessential windows app's first. Will keep you posted on my findings.Viliae wrote:Hello
Regard to Mk3 Improvement script, I never had any issue with it (except those stalls - game stops or whatever you wanna call it). This script however improve survivability of traders (especially in XRM) - they jump away from enemies much more often then vanilla ones.

Take a look at your disk drive light (or listen to the hard disk) when the "freeze" happens. If the light is on almost continuously during the freeze, then it probably means that Windows is swapping something to/from the disk drive (virtual memory). If that is what is going on, then the cure is more memory (or turning off other apps while playing the game).Valen68 wrote:Maybe it's a windows app that is causing it as Paul suggested.
Five seconds would be a very long pause for a script. Most script-related pauses are less than a second. Or a couple of seconds, max. Five seconds sounds more like disk drive thrashing, as Paul suggested.
- (And, yes, Mk3 Improvement is awesome, as are OK Traders.)

Just to be sure... If I want to use IEX and "TC Plots in XRM:Albion Prelude", what is the load order ?
IE
IEX
XRM1
XRM2
XRMi
TCAP
TCAPIEX
And then overwrite with the "TC Plots in XRM:Albion Prelude" archive ?
(sorry for those who don't understand this wonderful world of acronyms)
EDIT : and add Lost Colony also

Looks like none of my old saves from AP2.1, XRM 1.24b will load. they all cause CTDs. A shame, really.
Edit: I stand corrected. It seems that when I did a System Restore, Windows decided to remove several of the .cat files from my X3AP directory...
2 of my old saves are not salvageable, but at least one is. Now that I'm going through the upgrade scripts, I'm noting there doesn't seem to be one that covers 1.27 > 1.28.
