Thank you all, you have been most helpful. Now time to create an Empire! (or implode my head with confusion, which ever comes first)

Hello all

I hope one of you can help me. I am getting a crash whenever I launch X3 with the XRM mod loaded. (It launches fine without the mod)

I've installed the mod using both the Steam and non-Steam variations. The launcher loads, and I click Start X3AP.

I get through the initial EGOSOFT logo and it gets to the loading screen where the Controller diagram is displayed and within 30-40 seconds freezes and Windows tells me that it has stopped responding and I can close the program or close the program and look for a solution.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate, x64. I have a good system and can provide specs if it would be helpful.

As a further detail - if I rename the XRM CAT and DAT files - the game loads fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ah!

I think I seem to have stumbled upon the issue.

There were already 4 sets of CAT/DAT mod files in the Addons directory numbered 01 through 04.

I was naming my files 05 as the instructions recommend.

I went in, renamed the 10 CAT/DAT to 05 CAT/DAT and then renamed my XRM CAT/DAT files to 01.

Now the game loads perfectly, or at least it has the last 5 or 6 times.

Note this is an absolutely fresh install of XRM onto the Vanilla game so I am assuming these other mods are the bonus packs.

Anyone know if this might cause any issues?

No, no, no, that's wrong. The 01 to 04 cat/dats are the vanilla game. They must not be touched. You are doing something else wrong.

Is your underlying TC install clean? Post a screenshot of your addon folder and I'll take a look.

Try to use the XRM installer on Vanilla X3 installations:

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 76#4337076

It automatically renames the cat/dat files accordingly and also handles the 00044 file in \mov. Since your installation seems to be messsed up, you should uninstall and re-install X3 completely before installing XRM though.

Ha this makes me chuckle, you must have made this comment several hundred times lol. Just use the installer mate, ive used both ways and in my opinion the installer is better.

I used the installer and it worked like a champ!

I really wish I knew what I had done wrong! I did the process like 4 times and I was very deliberate.

TY for the quick responses to the thread and for the installation Program as well!

Cheers - Juber

So I have been trying out XRM for AP for a few days now and noticed that corporations seem to often spawn two different agents at the same time and they are both giving the same mission. For example NMMC HQ has two guys giving the same ware delivery mission. This happens even if only XRM is installed.

I have also noticed that the ATF Valhalla does not appear in the encyclopedia even if cheats are used.

That is a side effect of a deliberate design decision to stop the Valhalla being spawned by scripts as if it were any other m2.

hI, i'D like to go back to XRM and my question is if there is any ongoing development of this mod or it's pretty much it?
Roughly, when we can expect new patch with content?

Yes.

Not specified.
Recently (few weeks ago) Paul mentioned that the next update was being worked on but wouldn't be released for "some time" (not an exact quote).

Good to hear, guess I'll make a clean install with XRM and start a new game ;)

Its still being worked on - but very slow progress. My day job has gone crazy recently so I've no time to spare during the day (when I used to get most of the dev work done).

There certainly won't be any major additions. The vast majority of things in my to-do list are fixes and slight enhancements.

Ship and Weapon Stats Format

Post by Wolf518 »

Hi All.

Hope I'm posting this in the right place. I just stumbled on this mod yesterday - and it looks awesome!

Does anyone know if there is (or will be) an Excel version of the ship and weapon stats available? The online version is OK, but requires a browser. It would be nice to have an Excel file for offline use.

Thx.

There is no excel version. I use the online version as it is automatically generated directly from the game files - trying to maintain an excel spreadsheet was a major headache.

I just came across a strange bug. I have an elephant that has katana docked under the left wing and vulture under the right wing. Sometimes when I undock my vulture it undocks from the left side and the katana model disappears. When I dock my vulture back to my elephant it docks under the left wing where the katana was. If I undock my katana after that the vulture model disappears from under the left wing and the katana reappears.

Also if you dock immediately to a station after undocking by using the docking computer you are unable to undock from the station. Pressing the button does nothing and ship commands wont do anything no matter how long you wait. I guess this is because your ship seems to be protected against collision with the mothership and you cannot slow down for some time when you undock. If you wait until the protection period ends (the hint being that you can slow down) and dock after that you have no problems.

The second issue is nothing to do with the xrm - just sounds like a quirk of x3.

As for the first issue, are you running any additional scripts that affect docking?
