It would never occur to me to call a fellow Wordle fanatic dumb. I just wanted to prevent you from writing an angry email to the NY-Times or getting yourself into an unfortunate position.

The word is indeed quite uncommon, even more so after the 1800s according to Google's ngram viewer. In cases like these it's helpful to ask whether it could be a comparative form or an inflection of a word, and to look up the infinitive or positive form instead. Although in this specific case, Google translate is still not very helpful.

Also when in doubt, you can always draw the non-native speaker card.

My brain freezes when that happens, and the struggle for me is to come up with any word for my next guess.

Three on the second was a pain for me too, mainly because every word I thought of contained excluded letters.
