That's... It's... There's really know way to make that sound like a heroic death, is there?

Heard about this on the local news (Schöppingen is just 30km from where I live). I always thought that our crime rate was so low due to good police work an overall high employment rate and (more or less) working social security system. Turns out our criminals are just absolut morons.

According to Nvidia this will not really be a device for most people.

The article unfortunately doesn't explain where Nvidia gets its numbers from. Of course, the recommended system specifications are high, but then again not that high that you wouldn't get such a system for a price I would consider normal for a 'high end' system these days. With a price for the Occulus rift between 300 and 400 € (I guess), that is clearly the market they are targetting anyhow. Therefore, I'm unsure what the author of the techspot.com article is trying to say.

What I wonder about is the requirement for four USB (3x 3.0, 1x 2.0) ports though.

Two cameras (one for headset one for touch controller)+ headset + xbox controller? Usb mouse + keyboard is two more.

http://wccftech.com/oculus-rift-system- ... s-updated/

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey replied to the thread, saying that the additional USB ports assumes that the Oculus Rift CV1 user will be “using Touch and an Xbox One gamepad at the same time.” If you didn’t already know, the consumer version of the virtual reality headset will ship with an Xbox One controller.

Quickybaby did a Charity Live Stream for people with disabilities a week or so ago . It went well .

Special Effects sent him a kit that allows you to do in game controls with your eye's . There are also voice commands that can be mapped . Saddly he didn't get to that bit in the short demo he's done with the kit
We put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games.

By using technology ranging from modified joypads to eye-control, we're finding a way for people to play to the very best of their abilities.

But we're not just doing it for fun. By levelling the playing field, we're bringing families and friends together and having a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.

Note : Hoping this being a charity , I'm bending the rules Not breaking them.

I'm afraid, but I think the scientists were too focussed on the calculations and forgot the practical application. You cut pizza from the centre to the outside in a straight line (basically like cake). That way you can hold each piece at the crust, where no hot topping is. The inner slices shown in the picture will be hard to hold, unless the bottom of the pizza is really thick (American style) or it is burnt. But even then, if you have a hot, fluid topping there's a good chance to burn your fingers. Of course, one could argue eating pizza with knife and fork would prevent these problems. But let's be honest here: We're not barbaric, the pizza is already dead, no need for further shredding when you eat it anyhow.
If the only aim are equal slices, then they still have the problem that the crust usually doesn't have the same deliciousness as the topping area. Additionally, their calculation doesn't take into account different topping items being only avaible on certain pizzas in a limited amount and not spread around the whole base. Cutting or rearranging them will not always be an option. If my pizza has only 5 basil leaves, then cutting it into 6 slices is not really an option.

The only application I see for their calculcations is an imagined model of a pizza consisting of just one 'material' with the same thickness in every spot, which needs to be cut into equally sized pieces using a proper pizza cutter, with which you can master the specified shape. This, however, is highly theoretical and has nothing to do with real pizza anymore. Therefore, I consider the dailymail article highly misleading.

I have mixed feelings tbh, Homeworld not in space? Not sure I like that, but its an RTS and as such I'll welcome any RTS with a decent story.

@X2 my point exactly was that the maths people made one HUGE miscalculation and that is the assumption you are to share the pizza and thus would be concerned of it being equal. But as we all know, pizza is not going to be shared anyway (only over my cold dead body!) so its rather pointless to calculate the slices. Its all MINE anyway.

MFG

What a shame...
