I think we could speed up the Earth's rotation a bit if we made a concerted effort to combine Mexican, Indian and Thai restaurants into one single chain of restaurants that could be found in every country.
With toilets strategically located, of course.
It'd be a breakthrough in longevity technology! We'd all live a lot longer if the years were shorter!

Not really related but I found it interesting. There's a spot in the world that has lightning storms going for about 50% of the time. It has only stopped for a while twice in the last several hundred years. Once during a drought (2010) and once after a huge earthquake (1906).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catatumbo_lightning
occurs during 140 to 160 nights a year, 10 hours per day and up to 280 times per hour. It occurs over and around Lake Maracaibo, typically over the bog area formed where the Catatumbo River flows into the lake

The problem is he starts with a potentially interesting (but presently unreplicated) anomaly in the behaviour of water in extremely specific circumstances (involving microbeads in the vicinity of a polymer used, among other things, in fuel cell membranes, itself poorly understood), and proceeds from there with no evidence whatsoever to start making entirely unfounded statements about the behaviour and structure of water in general, paying no regard to existing research (with a particular fondness for dismissing surface tension). It then gets even sillier, as he proceeds from there to making unfounded statements about half of the rest of science being caused by his magic water (with a particularly fun sideline, it turns out, in selling said magic water to alt med types). I admit I didn't watch the whole video, as my patience has limits, but I am entirely confident that whatever he was talking about made just as little sense as the rest of it.Tracker001 wrote:lol Ya , almost just stopped watching it when he stated "Wind pushes the earth into rotation.

I jumped around the vid and, after hearing some keywords and seeing the accompanying links in the vid description, it's pretty obvious he's an E.U. * proponent and has an agenda to preach.red assassin wrote:...I admit I didn't watch the whole video, as my patience has limits, but I am entirely confident that whatever he was talking about made just as little sense as the rest of it.

Thanks for the heads up. Looks like it takes a while to link accounts atm so I assume the link thing has been popular. I wonder if steam will do the same in kindOmegaKnight wrote:GOG Connect

Wow... The most surveiled citizens of any Western government are on their way to graduating to the most "databased" citizens in the Western world.Terre wrote:"UK Home Office is creating mega database", the data silo returns.

(I don't think even China has as much info about their own citizens as the U.K. But, a great many of them can't be "surveiled" nearly as well.)
And, it looks like in response to queries, the gov't is just going to sit back and say "so what." Anyone want to make a bet on who, exactly, these "learning algorithms" are going to be focusing on? It won't be those in power...

In the U.S., she'd have been gifted with a party-van full of Federal Agents, State law enforcement, local police, S.W.A.T. and tear-gas. Then, she'd have been charged with making terroristic threats, convicted, sentenced to fifteen years, probably suspended (due to age), and would have been put on a "No-Fly" list, banned from any public school, forced to wear a tracker and required to submit to regular drug-testing and psychiatric counseling.Tracker001 wrote:Making arrangements for building Demolition in Ireland

That's only if she didn't get shot in the hail of gunfire that would have erupted as law-enforcement stormed her house...
Side-Note: As a ten-year old, me and a friend got a date with two girls to meet at the local mall due to a prank call we made in a series of prank calls. (They answered the phone!

That word, "procedurally", is becoming something I hate. So many promising games have used that as a flash word and an excuse to put any thought into intelligent design leading to underwhelming finished products.
No Man's Sky is my last hope for anything "procedural" now.
Anyway, some brilliant stuff coming out of E3 2016. I normally do a thread for E3 but they're never that popular and forum activity seems lower than before, recently.
Firstly, and don't turn your nose up at it, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare looks more like Star Wars Battlefront, than Star Wars Battlefront. Getting some Halo 2 vibes, too, while keeping CoD's fast paced gunplay. Looks pretty good after years of shoddy clones.
PS4 stuff has blown me away, quite simply. I believe all of what I'm about to post is PS4 exclusives. Also put a out-of-10 score for how hyped I am for each one (down to personal taste for the premise of each game, obviously).
The PlayStation VR is due to be released in October for under £400.
If you played/know of Heavy Rain, that studio is making a new similar story-driven game called Detroit Become Human. Reminds me of iRobot mixed with L.A. Noire. Stars' hype-o-meter: 9/10
The Last Guardian has fans of Ico/Shadow of Colossus going nuts. Hype-o-meter: 5/10 (liked SotC, but not sure I like the character of this one)
Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus have announced a game called DEATH STRANDING. Don't know much about the game, but the trailer is very artsy. Hype-o-meter: 6/10 (just don't know anything about it)
Horizon Zero Dawn is like Far Cry Primal, in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world filled with sentient machines that have evolved to look and behave like animals and dinosaurs. A crazy premise but looks like it gels together really well. If that fight at the end is not scripted, then it could be brilliant. Hype-o-meter: 8/10

Procedural "setting" generation has been around for a long time. At least... "semi-procedural." There's only so far down the procedural rabbit-hole one can go before the processing power to generate it isn't enough. So, you get blocky procedurals, scripts with procedural elements and then groups of things that are semi-procedural added on, when called for.Stars_InTheirEyes wrote:That word, "procedurally", is becoming something I hate. And, apparently, panned by rabid COD fans who, apparently, don't want a shiny sci-fi shooter. Arma fans accepted a Zombie-survival game, what is it about COD fans that push back so heavily?Firstly, and don't turn your nose up at it, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare looks more like Star Wars Battlefront, than Star Wars Battlefront. Skyrim Remastered is coming out for both XBox, PS4 and PC, with PC owners of all the DLC/Legendary editions getting it for for free on Steam. AND, the console versions will also support... modding. Will we see a return to paid-mods on console, after the debacle of the Skyrim paid-mod fest on Steam?
Mmm... the sweet tears of gaming controversy. That sells tickets!
