I found a way to unclog the vanilla station manager

Post by fireanddream »

So basically if you use station manager on the Xenon hub with intention to buy & sell goods, it gives you all sorts of problems, one of them being lots of ships just sitting there not even doing anythingl.
What happens is when a goods is at 40%-60%ish, station manager is content with the situation and won't attempt to buy OR sell, resulting in a hang.
And so I realized I could dock a TL at the hub, run a trade distribution run with just loading/unloading stuff with waits in between, eventually station manager would check inventory at the right time and unclog everything. It works!
Now to debug the other problems... Damn brain why do you get triggered so much by **modified**

Nope they are stuck again god damn it.

I'll just start a new day of X3 playthrough by restarting the station manager

I haven't used the station manager on a dock like the Xenon Hub for regular trading. Since docks don't manufacture anything, what would they sell?

One thing I have tried is to set the Hub as a dock and add weapons/missiles as 'tradable' goods. The agents then collect those wares when they are dropped during a battle. The only problem was that the agents would fly into battles when people are still shooting.

If you add a ware they'll buy when stock is low and sell when high... theoretically.
Problem is like I said when stock is about 40%-60% they don't do anything ever. That's also one of the many reasons a station manager managed ship can get stuck.
I've given up on this entirely and it improves my playthrough tremendously. I have 1/3 on best buy and 2/3 on best sell on various common goods now. If anything nasty happens it's a quick return to home command to save the ship instead of having no manual control over them.
