Hey Connary, 1.0 is greate, but I have a bit of complain about two backgrounds - Paranid Prime (and some other Paranid sectors that share that background) and Maelstrom.

Maelstrom gives a feeling that I'm inside the giant space tube. I kinda liked previous one "dense nebula" Maelstrom better.

Paranid Prime is even worse - It's kinda rape my mind coz I feel like in giant space jar, or worse in planet's surface sky, exept that there is no surface but sky both in "up" and "bottom" and horizont ring between them. It's really disturbing and creepy in a way that I avoid those sectors. Also this background make the planets barelly visible (Priest Rings) or invisible (Paranid Prime).

BTW I really like those loading screens.

Hahaha Hey MrWho sorry to ear that XD. I supposed this new backgrounds can create such a extreme response but I will explain my art direction.

About Maelstrom I decided to take a different approach than the rest of the universe to get a singular place. Something that this universe lacks.
The explanation in the sector is: ''strong magnetic storm'', this can resemble more a northern lights than a dense cloud imho. The linear disposition of the gates gives me the sensation of a channel, a magnetic tube that generates this 'aurora rings'.
About the Paranid sectors, hahaha, you are in Paranid space my friend.
The explanation follows as: ''The skies of Paranid Prime are dominated by a fiery gas cloud, the aftermath of a terrible xenon experiment''. And I must include than the Paranid are very proud of his burning vistas, LOL.
Ok, its a extreme background, but i'm trying to recreate a unpleasant place where non Paranid pilots want to leave as quickly as possible.
Why all the space must be beautiful and pleasant? Im also looking for some singularity here.
Evidently this is an art direction and your opinion its so good as my own one. Time to discuss.
You are right, some planets are out of place in this Paranid sectors, also some of the suns. I forgot than this places weren't finished completely. In the new version this will be corrected.

Guess I need three eyes to fly in Paranid sectors without my mind blowing up. However I hope that you will end up with something a bit less mindblowing in the end just for health sake.

I mean Xenon sectors are diffrent, strange and disturbing, but they don't cause my eye to bleed and my brain pulseing inside my skull - that what some current Paranid sectors are. Also this background doesn't really looks like something that would be in space (as I mentioned it looks more like planetary atmosphere than space sector) - I had a impression that sector description refere to planet skies rather than whole star system background. Ultimately Earth sky is completely diffrent than Solar System "sky".

Im playing with 1680x1050 with 80FOV. Between 75 to 85 can be a decent view. More than 85 creates a excessive distortion for my liking.

Hummm Mr Who. Good point. My understanding of the english language its not the better. For me ''the skies are dominated'' mean than there are something from above, in the space, that dominates the planet view.

The Paranid nebula core systems look really awesome and 'HD', really good approach on this one :)

I've found some flaws in some sectors; Brennan's Triumph (moon placed in one of that supersized rocks); SOL - two suns - but I'm not sure if that's IE fault or XRM mod.

You get this kind of things if you dont start a new game or with any mod that changes the xuniverse.xml.
In my universe I dont use the Brennan's triumph texture reference for brennan's triumph, lol. I used this reference to bring some special look to some unknown limit sectors (floating blue rocks).

LOOOOOOL!
I found a way to deal with that "Paranid sector disturbance"...

...basically, when I'm drunk I don't feel any side effects of that strange Paranid background :D

I guess that this whole Paranid "holy threedimensonality" jibberish is basically achived by abuse of space fuel :)

<Hell, Connary, now you really need to change that background, or I'll have to take precaution in form 2-3 beers before entering Paranid sectors - and I don't have in mind those weak american beers, I mean those serious eastern Europe/Russian stuff that would KO average american in no time>

Good to see you back connary. :)

Is there a problem with "fogbluedistance". Looking in the TBackgrounds.txt file it has "0;1250000" and flying there gives me zero vis. on all IS objects until I bump into them.

I love new the "inner" solarsystem look but altho' the Paranid change is defineately heading in the right direction I find the ring or tunnel effect a little too pronounced.

Does v1.0 have those Xenon "night lights" I think you teased us with sometime back, I couldn't see it anywhere...

No new xenon lights. A bit excessive XD.

O well, I'm working right now in a more pleasant Paranid sectors. Definitely I don't want a couple drunk pilots out there.

I will check fogbluedistance Moonrat, thanks.

Oddly I like the soft version. I kinda think of Paranid as pretenders and the more pretentious their sectors the better :D

Firey would be cool too though...
