I'll use spoilers for how they work and how to get them.Malaras wrote:I seen we can use these

As i haven't used the above yet not sure how they work.
But could it be made possible to make repair ships, repair lasers?
Thanks,

They can be found in the Legend Home shipyard, and you need quantum tubes, then attach the weapons that come with the ship and fire away. They are much better than repair lasers.

Serious FPS issues with this mod in comparison to vanilla AP. with AP i get 60 fps with everything on high pretty much all the time, except in SETA x10 which drops it as low as 40 depending on sector.
however with this mod im averaging 28 FPS, if i look around some sectors it can drop as low as 16. I am not even going to mention what SETA does to it.
So i searched and read loads. 800 page thread, cheers
I tried the following
Having said all that - getting rid of the trails is quite straight forward - but time consuming.
- Extract TShips from XRM Part 2 (or if you use a hull pack, extract it from the hull pack)
- Open it in the X3Editor2
- For each ship go to the "model" tab and change the particle emitter entry to "0".
- save and drop the TShips file into your "types" folder in your TC install.
The only issue with this method is you have to do it again every time I change TShips.
Still see the ship trails and it took me well over an Hour to go through and change all them chuffing entries to 0.
so next i tried this
Otherwise you can edit the XRM particles3.txt and copy and paste the vanilla black smoke trail from a vanilla particles3 over all the ship engine trail entries in the XRM particles3 - just don't forget to set the correct ID each time
not even sure if i did it right, instruction where a little vague to say the least. however that has had no effect either.
So now im asking is there any little trick or tip i've missed in reading this threadnaught, that could help me get at least playable FPS.
and before it's suggested changing the settings in the graphics option down to the lowest has no effect. other than making it look like im playing elite again.

First - what is your rig like? and what other scripts are you running?
Whatever you may have heard elsewhere, removing trails does not make a massive difference.
All fighters have trails in vanilla AP and TC - the trails are just black.
XRM:AP adds a lot more ships and a lot more sectors, plus Expnobody's new ship models are not particularly fps friendly, all of which has an effect, although not a massive one in most situations.
However, with a reasonably up to date system with decent system ram and a 64bit os, you should not be getting any massive drops in framrates, except maybe in the vacinity of the huge terran fleet. In fact many users experience better performance than vanilla.

Not the most super duper rig, but.
windows 7 ultimate sp1 x64
Cpu even pointless as it is is a quad @2.4ghz
4Gig of ram
GPU hd6850 1gb DDR5
and i even have my windows installed to a different drive as all my game's just because im anal
it's totally got me stumped
TC =60 FPS
TC + XTC + ALL working scripts =60 FPS
X3AP + scripts coming out the wazzoo =60 FPS
X3AP + XRM = 30 FPS if im lucky.
and to give you some idea of just how capable my pig is.
BF3 on high 60 fps
Swtor on MAX 60 FPS and this is a poorly optimised MMO
Civ 5 real CPU hog plays fine then shows slow down in the 20th century.
shogun total war 2 dx11 1080p 40FPS+
so i know my rig can handle this in theory, but something somewhere is preventing it from doing so.
PS. just deleted all the files from my HDD redownloading from steam now, will try it without anything else installed. cant remember is if i had that bonus pack installed or not. EUGH 2 hours

I've noticed a significant performance decrease from vanilla AP, I must say.
Also, a few issues I've noticed you might want to look into:
Boreas description, Elena's Chance -> Elena's Fortune.
I also have a "Dolphin" flying around. That's all it says. "Dolphin". Homebased to the KE Military Base.
Some of the corp. station protection ships are called "*Corp* Station Protection *Ship*" and some just "*Corp* Station Protection" o_O.

thats all well and good but i think you'll find the extra showing will be windows itself. if im correct, isnt this a game 32bit with a max header of 2gb?dreamer2008 wrote:I have a very similar rig to yours, and I think that you need more RAM.Gungy wrote:...
I bought today 4 gigs of RAM to get to a total of 8 and the FPS were a lot better. Task manager shows that the system uses 4.5 gigs of RAM while the game is running.
if im right more ram would achieve nothing. that said, even with the other version of the game i rarely go above 3.2gb usage. where as other games max me out sometimes.

X3 can use more than 2gb. i believe the original release couldnt without a command line switch, but i believe it was included in a TC patch ages ago.
With a 64bit os, adding an extra 4gb will make a massive difference.
I think this is the main issue with the xrm. It is more ram heavy than vanilla, rather than cpu or graphics.

then i would like a full refund under The Sale of Goods Act 1979.
you clearly state:
"The X3 Rebalance Mod (XRM) is a total conversion mod of X3 Terran Conflict. It rebalances nearly all aspects of the game including ships, weapons, graphics, sounds and the universe itself, as well as adding a huge amount of new content. It has been designed with performance and playability in mind and has many exclusive features not available in other mods or scripts."
so give me my money back

on a side note anyone know if the cd key steam versions works on dvd versions, cos i might swap the install to my SSD if it does.

Hi,
XRM:AP plays worse on my Q6700 @ 2.66 with 4gb Ram and a GTX 275 than it does on my Q6600 @ 2.4 with 8gb Ram and a 8800GT for the most part. Both systems are Win 7 64bit.
Ok, the 8800GT isn't fast by todays standards but it's ok, just about. I really think Ram makes a significant difference. I was a huge supporter of making games LAA & have been doing so for years and it'd make a huge difference in TC before the patch made it standard.
With 8gb of ram the game can stretch it's legs properly - I see near 4gb usuage for TC/AP after a longish session. With just 4gb system the game is cramped in my experience
Along with Ram the CPU is the biggest contributor to good performance, any decent GPU from the last 4 years should be fine graphically, but I notcied a massive jump in performance going from my Q6600 - which was at 3.6 when it was my gamer - to my 2500k at stock (now at 4.5)
Even now, in large battles, my CPU chokes long before my GPU's (now a pair of 570's) even break a sweat - basically the CPU cannot keep the GPU's fed when there's a lot going on.
Note: adding my original GTX570 to the Q6600 @ 3.6 made very little difference in TC, that same card teamed with the 2500k was a huge difference.
TC/AP is quite demanding of both Ram and CPU, XRM adds efficiencies via it's tweaks, improving performance. Then Paul and the team add extra feature to make use of the freed-up performance. In AP the huge battles can take their toll, I suspect RRF takes the lions share there. Plus of course battles are not insta-resolved due to the higher hulls in-sector (if picked) the rebalanced weapon damage, as well as the more drawn-out OOS battles.
For the record, in a large battle, my FPS can drop into the mid-20's yet my GPU's are on less than 10% load each while the CPU is working hard on one core, busy on the 2nd and ticking over on the other two. I do think that the X game engine is showing it's age now, still it's amazing what's been achieved with it really.
Scoob.
