Considering how every time I try to board it and the marines flee due to the hull being critical (and thusly how i'd need to spend a massive amount of time repairing it with my puny repair laser), it's probably not worth the time, even if it would've made me an enormous amount of money selling the thing after letting my marines repair it.

I'm not sure that this is true. I had 14 mosquitoes in my hold in one fight where a few swarm missiles got launched at me and I still had 14 at the end of the fight.

Make sure you have the right missile defense mode set, only use the (C) variant in a convoy (following ships or with ships in "Follow Me" mode).

I'll test it again to make sure, but I pretty much would never use Convoy as I'm still in one ship with no wingmen.

To the XRM devs:

I'm working on getting my immersion mod, (LIFE), fully compatible with XRM and so far I am pretty confident that there aren't and shouldn't be too many future issues.

The one question I have that I can't really find an answer for is: do you guys play with race1.notoriety or race2.notoriety and if so how do you use them?

Currently I am using race1.notoriety, (other1.notoriety), as a signalling mechanism between the MSCI and MD. If you are using one of them I'll switch to the other, but if you're using both then I'll have to use another mechanism like pilot morale/fightskill on one of my hidden queue ships.

There are some ships that can equip repair lasers. I forget exactly which ones but there is one that can have 6 forward guns (not turrets) set as repair lasers. Using this ship to repair the Aran before attempting to board it with marines is the fastest way. As, I was always unable to get SETA to work with laser fire in linux. By the time i realized the aran was an enemy (due to me having the volume down and expecting the ship to be targetable and red once seen as an enemy) I had repaired the hull to nearly 100%. In any case i would expect that with the proper ship that can equip repair lasers on it's main guns, 10 minutes should be plenty sufficient to repair the hull enough for the marines.

In addition to being a THINK challenge and a unique trophy, the Aran makes a wonderful Repair Station for use with Marine Repairs and Training. The Aran can dock any size ship, so it can repair capital ships and freighters, or any other ship.

I would add two tips to JofersonSDD's excellent instructions:

1) Use Marines with high Engineering skill. They will do less damage during the boarding op.

2) Repair the Aran a little before boarding. As mentioned, you can use a ship with multiple repair lasers, or use SETA (hold left ctrl and SETA key simultaneously), or just put something heavy on the left ctrl key and go do something else for a few minutes.

Just to add: I take an OTAS Maintenance Pod with me when I go Aran hunting.
They mount, and come with, the quantum pulse repair and make fast work with the quick repairs needed to the Aran so the marines can board.

**Someone mentioned that a couple of ships can mount repair lasers.
In XRM-TC many ships can...there just isn't a repair laser available in the game outside those on the OTAS Maintenance Pods.
I'm pretty sure they can't be transferred to another ship, at least not so they would work.

hi great mod im enjoying it
i wanted to switch the docking computer and mars upgrades back to large ware size but im having trouble getting the game to see the changes ive made.
i followed the instructions in the faq and changed the TwareT.pck (i ended up doing it in both the tc and addon types folder to see if that was the problem).
now when i open up the TwareT.pck it shows the mars ware as lrg but in game it hasnt changed.
I am using the plugin manager and ive run it a number of times but unless there is someing else overiding i can only asume that the plugin manager is not intergrating my changes.
its not the end of the world and if i cant change this then ill just continue enjoying the game but im kinda curious now as to what the issue might be.
any help is apreciated.

In XRM-TC, for speed, I like the Split M6 the Drake.
Mounting IRS and/or PBE with 349m/s speed and you can hang out with most fighters of M3 size and a fair number of M4's.

Has anyone else got a problem with the Venti not being able to fire weapons at all? I've only just started playing xrm and so far this is the only glitch I've noticed. Hope someone can help.

If your Venti isnt firing, then i suspect you have a non-xrm tships blocking the xrm tships. This means you are also missing all the xrm added ships and youll have lots of Mammoths flying around. You need to find this rogue tships (either in another mod's cat/dat or the "types" folder in your x3 installation), remove it and restart your game.

Has anyone tried the Otas ships?

These Blastclaws are brutal at times when they are in packs of 4 or more.

Hey,
Great mod. Having one problem though. In the storyline I started, it seems everyone is "neutral" towards me. I've set them as foes personally, attacked and blown up a boatload of Argon vessels, but they still do not automatically appear as hostiles.

Is there a way to modify the standings towards me? If not, could you perhaps recommend a good combat-oriented campaign to choose that already has some enemies? I like joining these large fleet battles as "just another pilot" but it's impossible at the moment to properly engage in the battle without clear indications of who is my enemy.
