Vice did an interesting series on thailend recently, it gives a little inside on what is going on at the moment. (Like everything done by vice it is on the level of a few people and may not represent the majority. That is just the way ther documentaries are done.)Tracker001 wrote:burger1 wrote:Tropico 5 banned in Thailand because it might affect peace and order in the country according to the military government that took power in a military coup.

I'll have to question the article , naming of "Thailand" being the (Government) location of such a banning . It is more like something our beloved Tsar of Cow , the Ruler of..... The Land of Cow would be in the forefront , with the implementation of such a ruling .
A dictator, fending off military coups, rigging elections and ruling with a iron fist .
Thailand on the Brink (Dispatch 1)
The series has 5 parts.

Nearly impossible, right now, but it's still cool.

Illinois Lawyer Accidentally Sues Self :
NO, WE'RE NOT KIDDING. We quote from The Madison County Record, an Illinois newspaper, which has the details on this "only in America" type of story. The paper writes:
Alton attorney Emert Wyss thought he could make money in a Madison County class action lawsuit, but he accidentally sued himself instead. Now he has four law firms after his money - and he hired all four.
Wysss boomerang litigation started in 2002, when he invited Carmelita McLaughlin to his office at 1600 Washington St. in Alton. Acting as her attorney when she bought a home in Alton and when she refinanced it, on both occasions she had chosen Centerre Title--a company that Wyss owned--to close her loans.
In the course of the attorney-client relationship, Wyss advised McLaughlin she might have a claim against Alliance Mortgage, holder of the first mortgage. Wyss believed Alliance Mortgage might have broken the law by charging a $60 fax fee when she refinanced.
But the story continues. After depositions in the case were taken and some fancy lawyering by the defense, according to the Record, the trial judge ordered that Counselor Wyss and his firm were to be added as third-party defendants in the case. That's because they collected those allegedly improper fees. Counselor Wyss then understandably quit the plaintiff's case, but is now still on the hook as a defendant.
OOPS. Gee, isn't this is a prime example of "loser pays?" Heh heh heh.

I remember when the first announcement came out, years ago. I was still playing then, just not very much, IIRC.burger1 wrote:Blizzard cancels titan mmo (world of warcrafts successor)

It didn't look interesting.
I mean, the concept art and graphics looked interesting. The idea, or what little of it was revealed, was tempting. But, all I could imagine is seeing a poorly revamped Anarchy Online, this time with more flash and better quests... To tell you the truth, the first thing I took away from that early sneak-peak announcement was the feeling that this was going to be another "Holy Trinity MMORPG".. except with lasers.
Besides, SonyEQ is still cranking away at their "next-gen" MMO, which is supposed to be the Fantasy MMO to end all Fantasy MMOs and will kill WoW deader than last week's panda. Minecraft+Dragons+Permanent World+ZOMGZ PHAT LEWTZ = TAKE MY MONEY! Right? Right? /sigh I'm not too juiced up about that one, either.

First Ebola Case in United States - CDC Vows It Will Stop It In Its Tracks
That's right, the third most populous country in the World with, arguably, one of the most sophisticated internal travel systems in the World with millions of people flying daily within its borders, just got its first uncontrolled exposure to a strain of Ebola that has killed more people than all previous Ebola outbreaks, combined.

I would tend to agree. That's because we have an excellent healthcare system and one which is up to the task of containing this problem.Antilogic wrote:For nothing. There will be no widespread contamination and nothing major will happen.Morkonan wrote: We wait in white-knuckled anticipation...
Provided, of course, that we don't suffer further issues, like a widespread outbreak. Even then, it won't be as bad as it would be for less developed nations.
The "white-knuckled anticipation" has more to do with how the public may react to this if there are any further cases linked to this one. More "diseases" might spread other than Ebola... We'll see.
