No-Underpants Yoga Pants May Be Next Darling of Workout World
...
Yoga pants invaded the closets of women in the US a couple of years ago. They're "every day" wear, these days... Being a man, I must admit that I have "appreciated" the efforts certain ladies have gone to in order to remain "in-style."
But... now? Uh, errr..
Look, how much is a mortal man supposed to take before he looses it and becomes a drooling, stammering, idiot while standing in line at a convenience store?
The convenience store I normally go to is right next to a very large fitness center. They serve salads there for lunch and it's packed with a yogo army almost every day... Good thing I like salad, I guess.
(I should just copy and paste the pic of the dog, above, here.

I think he's either going to be on Desert Island Discs this week, or was on it last week, in which case you can get it on iPlayer / a pod cast.Morkonan wrote:That man has giant brass balls that clank when he walks...Terre wrote:The achievements of this man are to my mind, just incredible.

The Taliban's psychiatrist.
Interesting and thought provoking article. It seems that we humans have more in common, than we have that differs; even in extreme examples.

In the late 1990s the Taliban controlled Afghanistan, but the fighting that brought them to power left many militants struggling with the psychological effects of war. One doctor recognised the problem and, although he disagreed with the Taliban's ideology, agreed to treat them.
"I remember the first group of Taliban who came to see me," says Afghan psychiatrist Nader Alemi. "They used to come in groups, not as individuals. When I treated one, he would spread the word.
"Fighters would turn up with my name on a piece of paper. They would say that I'd cured their friend, and now they wanted to be cured too. Most of them had never been to a doctor before."

n 2010 the health ministry said that two thirds of the population had a mental illness
Problems are mainly caused by continued violence, poverty, unemployment, domestic violence and drug addiction
A nationwide survey conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2002 found high levels of depression, anxiety, and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) - women and people with disabilities were most affected

Gog is having a huge "bundle" sale, with franchise bundles that run the gambit of gaming genres: http://www.gog.com/
(Didn't think it needed its own thread, but there are enough Gog fans here to warrant the announcement, methinks.)

"The development follows Scotland Yard’s decision last week to publicly
describe claims that a Conservative MP strangled a boy of 12 as
both “credible and true”. Officers, who have appealed for witnesses to come
forward, are investigating the claims of an alleged victim, known as Nick,
who says he was molested from the age of seven to 16, between 1975 and
1984. He claims to have seen a Conservative MP kill a boy at an orgy in a
London townhouse in around 1980, and to have witnessed a Conservative
cabinet minister watch two men kill another boy in a sexual assault a year
later."
- very, very serious allegations indeed:

O.o
I don't even... How? Why? How could this have gone on so long and have been so widespread over time? It's like it was institutionalized!
"Here's your room key, sir. And, here's a child, complimentary, on the house..."
WTF?

So normally I would not post news related to my city, but yesterday there was something interresting.
On Friday four members of the group "Münster gegen Pegida" (Münster against "Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West" short Pegida) announced that they wanted to hold a demonstration for more empathy with rafugees and against islam fear and against Pegida. They assumed that 500 people would take part in it.....in the end there where 10.000 people out on the street in a city with a population of only 300.000, that is quite a large amount when keeping in mind that they only orginized and annouced the demonstration three days before it took place.
There was no english coverage (the event was not importent enough and a very national/ regional event), but here are some pictures.

Wow! Congratulations! That's something to be proud of! As the Brits might say, or is it the Aussies "Good on ya!."clakclak wrote:So normally I would not post news related to my city, but yesterday there was something interresting.

As an American, I'll just say "Cool story, bro!" (And mean it.
