This is why dogs are better than cats... and some people:
Service dog jumps between blind owner, school bus - BREWSTER, N.Y. - A service dog threw himself in front of a mini school bus to try to protect his blind owner and stayed by her side as emergency responders tended to the injured pair, authorities said.

Both Figo, the golden retriever, and his owner, Audrey Stone, were on the mend Tuesday, a day after the collision with the mini school bus in Brewster.

Police photos of Monday's crash showed fur stuck to the bus' front wheel, according to the Journal News.

"The dog took a lot of the blow," Brewster Police Chief John Del Gardo said. "And he did not want to leave her side. He stood right with her. He was there to save her."

The driver said he didn't see the pair crossing the road. He was given a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian, reports CBS New York. The two kindergarteners on the bus weren't injured.

Paul Schwartz, who manages a gas station at the intersection, ran over to help.

"The dog didn't want to leave her side," Schwartz said. "He was flopping over to her, and she didn't want him to get away from her, either. She kept screaming" Figo's name, said Schwartz. "We kept telling her he was fine."

"He let us wrap up his leg without any problem. He wasn't barking or crying or yelping. But he kept pulling toward her," Schwartz said...
Good boy. Who's a good doggy? You are!

Catholic church officials in Mexico attempt to exorcise the entire country.

What I took from this is that the Catholic church claims to have an AoE dispel ability they call "Exorcismo Magno," with a range of approximately 3000km on an 8766 hour cooldown.

THE END IS NIGH!

The Internetz just ran out of internetz...
NBC - Internet now officially too big, IP addresses run out...

The Internet as we know it is now officially too big for its britches.

The organization that assigns IP addresses in North America — the numbers that identify every computer, smartphone and device connected to the Internet — ran out of numbers overnight Wednesday. It's not the end of the world, because there's a newer, more robust system rolling out, but it's a milestone in our shared online history, nonetheless. ....
Sure, they say it's not the end of the world. But what do they know? Our hope rests on ISPs upgrading to IPV6... The last time I placed trust in my ISP was... never.

Edit : The Onion reports ;
"Nation’s Single Men Announce Plan To Change Bedsheets By 2019 "
WASHINGTON—Emphasizing that their bedsheets have no major stains and look completely fine except for a “couple flakes of skin here and there,” the nation’s single men announced Tuesday that their goal is to change their bedding by 2019.

The country’s bachelors, who last changed their sheets in November of 2003, told reporters that though their linens are faded and slightly itchy at times, they are completely fine for sleeping in, and at this point barely even smell.

“As of now, our plan is to strip the bed of its sheets and wash them by either June or December of 2019,” said unmarried Atlanta man James Bolter, who reportedly sighed and said he guesses that means pillowcases, too. “The hottest part of this summer is nearly over so we’re not going to be sweating as much at night, which means we just don’t see any immediate need to change and wash our sheets.”

LET'S SWIM IN POOP!
2016 Summer Olympics: Athletes Will Swim in Dangerous Rio Filth, AP Investigation Finds

The waters in Rio de Janeiro, host of the 2016 Summer Olympics, are teeming with viruses and bacteria from human feces, an investigation by the Associated Press has found.

In some tests, the levels of contamination are up to 1.7 million times what would be considered hazardous on a California beach, according to the AP analysis, which is the first independent testing for both viruses and bacteria at Olympic sites. Brazilian officials and the International Olympic Committee only test for bacteria.

Fevers and stomach problems have already beleaguered some athletes training in Rio, the AP reported. Because most sewage is not treated in Brazil, dangerous waste freely makes its way to bodies of water where Olympians will swim and boat. .....
There are times when a country should have won the right to host and time when we have to wonder if a country should have won the right to host...

Sounds like barrier-cream sales are probably going to go up in Rio.
