They mean that Microsoft is actually working *with* the open source people rather than attempting to to stifle or destroy them. (Steve Ballmer once famously said "Linux is a cancer", for example).

It's going quite a bit deeper than simply "tax havens."

There's quite a bit of a formerly secret world being uncovered. IIRC, the documents obtained number over 11 million... That's 11 million documents, with however many pages each, each of which could be something very revealing.

I just discovered that Apple demands 30% of all sales of apps to be installed on an iDevice + 30% of all sales of digital products delivered via said IDevice.
I discovered this because Amazon have clearly refused to pay and thus you can't buy any digital products through any of Amazons apps. . . . although bizarrely if you just launch the phones web browser and use the standard amazon website you can buy whatever you want.

30%!!!! That's daylight freaking robbery I'm not surprise Amazon refused to pay it and I'm amazed anyone will. If that applies to advertising revenue as well (I couldn't find out if it does) then that income stream ALONE would make more money than God.

Hilariously Apple advertise it at "allowing you to receive 70% of the purchase price."

To be fair to Apple however Google charge EXACTLY the same with the Play store. For comparisons sake, google market place which is basically the business version of Play, takes a 2% cut for providing an almost directly comparable service.

I thought that was pretty cool, when I first read about it. Finally, a better, more detailed, explanation of why our core is still so hot.

That actually sounds like quite a progressive step forward.
The majority of anti-prostitution laws have always primarily targeted the sex-worker as the law breaker despite the fact it quite obviously takes two to tango as it were.
Also quite obviously that balance of power in the sex-worker/client relationship is far more often than not very heavily skewed towards the latter. The client has clearly chosen to use the service, what circumstances led to the sex worker being involved are likely much more complicated and probably at least partially beyond their control/

the law was often seen as chasing and punishing primary "victim" of the crime.

Sounds like a good thing to me.
Not as good as simply fully legalizing and properly regulating the "oldest profession" but perhaps a small step in the right direction.

Hmmm. I presume that the -850 degrees Fahrenheit mentioned in the car article is a typo, and the 0 should really be a degrees symbol ... -216 Kelvin sounds a trifle unlikely to me

Well Steam just S*** itself,
queued updates for more than half of peoples libraries
and it's happening repeatedly*

Reddit seems to think that it just deleted all redistributables and then re-downloaded them

*first was 0 byte updates, then 100Mb-650Mb updates

While I'm on with Steam news,
I know a few of you want Homeworld Remastered Collection
you can pick it up for $12 over on Humble Bundle
as part of the Staff Picks – Glen Bundle

This makes me sad as he is no more, but I will keep hearing his voice daily, and that makes me happy, because he and those close to him, will know that he is remembered and a part of him lives on.

Axl Rose will be the newest member of AC/DC, replacing Brian Johnson as lead vocals, due to health (hearing) risks if he continued to perform.

(Temporary arrangement to fill out rest of AC/DC's promised performances?)

Who'da thunk it? Now, let's see if Axl can mimic Bon Scott as well as Brian Johnson did.
