Re: Why Terran ships are so slow?
There are other aspects to how slow the fighters are, like they are very easy for the AI to hit. I did an experiment tonight using all Terran equipment just to see how it stacked up and those slow Terran heavy fighters got mauled. I lost at least 3-4 of the Terran Heavy fighters for everyone 1 Chimera I lost despite the Terran fighters having amazing shielding. The only Terran fighter that held up as good as the Chimera was the Tokoba which is the only Terran fighter that actually is fast.

which surprises me, because 99% of my carrier fleets are Ares, Buzzards, and Eclipse... which all share around a 200ms speed, roughly... they all sport similar shielding and hull, and I can't remember the last time I lost one when sending them, in a group, against K's or I's, or FAF Rattlers... they get a little dinged up sometimes, but I can't remember losing one, or having to pull a spare from my aux fleet.Midnitewolf wrote: ↑Fri, 2. I'll note that when I was having race-specific fleets, Split ones are the most survivable. All other races need more frequent replenishment.grapedog wrote: ↑Fri, 2. And M ships of course need replenishment the most but that's to be expected.

Well I used attacking a Xenon Station for my test and the difference is losses was significant. Maybe the differences don't manifest themselves until the firepower of the target reaches a certain threshold. For example, a enemy DD will go boom pretty quickly to a swarm of fighters not getting a chance for long term attrition to take place. Against a station however with lots of staying power, your fighters could be there engaging for a very long extended period of time and it is where the weakness seemed to show up.grapedog wrote: ↑Fri, 2. My first reaction on seeing the Faix's stats was negative then I tried it out and was impressed.
So ATM I keep a Pegasus on its back for getting places quick. So I split off on the Pegasus and have the Faix follow behind.
It's fun watching the Faix and Pegasus race through sectors. If it's a large emptyish sector the Pegasus easily outpaces the Faix, but in smaller complex sectors with highways, the Faix often outpaces the Pegasus.
Obstacle course vs straight track run.
