Apparently it was Hungary and not Germany that was the last EU country to block SWIFT sanctions?

Note "the latest" not the last. Currently the talks are in Berlin after Hungary already agree to support SWIFT sanction.

Warenwolf wrote: Sat, 26. Feb 22, 15:35 With all due respect - that is very speculative, I doubt that datalinks between Ukrainian Mig-29 and E-3 Sentry AWACS are established. In best case Ukrainians would have a hell of delay. They got their own radars which are rather good from what I read.
You're right, I doubt there is a direct real time data link, but still it give eye to Ukraine like "Russian squadron A, location, bearings estimated size"
or "Russian squadron B, RTB, now is the time to operate"

Same with satelite data - here is unit this and this, potential target here and there.

It's not full data link, but otherwise Ukraine would be blind by now.

As for Ghost of Kiyv it's either very good propaganda, or possibly several different pilots rather than actually a single Ace.
No no.... It can be near real-time and likely is. NATO uses a Command and Control system called Forces Over The Horizon Common Operating Picture, or FOTC-COP. That takes data feeds from all kinds of sources, AWACS, SPY-1, Mobile RADAR, etc and connects to other FOTC-COP systems with basic TCP/IP to provide real-time data no matter the distance. Imagine a chain of these systems around the world and you have a global view that also integrates with IFF. There's no reason in the world why Ukraine wouldn't also have the same system. It literally runs on any PC built within the last 15 years.

Possible, although I am bit surprised if that datalink feed is not more encrypted. And electronics in soviet aircraft from 80s.... not exactly plug and play. I don't think Ukrainians have/had time to figure that one out AND retrofit it to their aircraft.
But tech part may or may not happen (sure you can feed data to their ground stations and bypass problems I mentioned above) , I am bit skeptical about - "Plane at X, therefore Y" speculation.

Well ya, you wouldn't need to. Planes have their own RADAR. All ground personnel would need to do is relay approximate coordinates, or range and bearing, to the pilot and they can do that over voice.

It's seem more and more countries joining to send weapons, supplies and money.

In the same time Putins allies are dropping (China and India abstaining in UN vote, EU collaborators changing their minds, Kazahstan said they will not reckognize separatis republics, Turkey closing the ship passage to Black Sea).

If Ukraine holds for a few more days then things will start looking good.

Yeah, that is what I meant with ground station integration. This is how ex-soviet air forces tend to operate (or tended). They were guided to their target by ground stations (which may not be through voice or may or may not be on the physical ground) until their own radar picks it up. That being said my knowledge about this is highly superficial.

That's pretty much how any air engagement is done today anywhere. I mean systems like FOTC-COP are designed for operational planning and situational awareness to make command decisions. That data is meant to be consumed by commanders. Trying to give that data to a pilot in an air-to-air fight would be overwhelming. People on the ground will, however, watch the AOE and beyond to let the air forces know if something changes and relay orders as appropriate, like enemy reinforcements approaching and retreating, if need be, etc.

germany maybe doesnt want to deliver weapons to russia's current enemy while they are buying considerable amounts of natural gas from russia
over 50% of natural gas in germany comes from russia, dont bite the "hand" that is "feeding" you ^^
... Deutschland remains by its "no" (to deadly weapons)

... bla bla ... on saturday ... the 5000 promised helmets were delivered to the ukranian military.
maybe they are rather considering to deliver coffins and wreaths instead of missiles :P

Poland gets 40% of gas from Russia and it didn't stopped us from sending weapons and ammunition.

true
thats the right attitude in my view

on the other hand, germany has the HIGHEST electricity prices on f***ing earth because of its green policies
i had to pay 12x 36€ (+100€ Xtra) for electricity in my 1-room-apartment (30 m²) last year

... and the prices are growing while inflation increases

I would not be surprised at the slightest that those that refuse to help Ukraine now, in future start complaining about Ukrainian refugees.

The price of electricity in southern Norway has reached the record high level of more than 115 øre per kilowatt-hour.

This is more than double the cost of electricity in central and northern Norway, and the rising prices mean that energy bills for consumers in the south could increase by as much as 2,000 kroner per month more compared to last year, according to energy price analyst from Volue Insight, Tor Reier Lilleholt .
2000 NOK equals 200 euro (monthly increase). And good luck not trying to use electricity during the winter in Norway.

As you can see in the first comment, it really doesn't matter what we do. Germany payed nearly 2.5 billion $ to Ukraine, and another 4.3 billion $ via the EU (mostly payed by Germany) but in the end we could just as well fight on the side of Russians because we are somehow the bad guys in this conflict, no matter what we do.

hmm ... never heared about that :?: but that would be quite dramatic

https://www.statista.com/statistics/263 ... countries/
Germany has the highest electricity prices worldwide. In December 2020, German households were charged around 0.37 U.S. dollars per kilowatt hour plus value added tax. By comparison, in neighboring Poland, residents paid about half as much, while households in the United States were charged even less.
2021 i personally paid 532€ for 1228 KWh
= 0.43 € / KWh

Well the difference may be in fixed add-on and totals. You electricity bill looked very low to me. But that is neither here or there - power production problems in Germany are direct result of kicking the can down the road and not green power per say. Sure you can exchange NPP for windmill farm. You just need to actually build HUGE one (and I am not one of these that think that NPPs should be getting rid off). Germans never did that part, choosing instead on rely more and more on cheap Russian gas.

So it is not about green power but political naivety, arrogance and ineptness. In my humble opinion.

You can blame their kneejerk response to the Fukushima disaster by shutting down all their nuclear power stations for their current situation.
