Re: Russia-Ukraine War
in that sense it's a good idea for Europe to take over helping Ukraine. They have the most to gain, and they can fill the void on the world stage if USA will decide to vacate its spot. And that's the war Europe needs to win.
With Trump in the White House, USA leaving the world stage and turning to its own version of fascism is a quite likely scenario.
As an American it would be hard to be associating to one with that turn of events. Similarly how it's hard for me to call myself Russian. Thankfully my identity is not tied to that.

The solace in another Trump term, is that in spite of his love for creating chaos and dismay, he tends to be largely ineffective when it comes to following through with rash threats. He's the American version of Kim Jong Un, or at least he would like to be.

His incompetence did hit the wall indeed. It's just not the exercise I would like to see again. I was wrong about Putin long ago, I won't be naive again

Baltics start to build the defense line with bunkers:

Estonia even consider minefields and barbed wire.
Russia in a few years:
Why, wherever I look there is another Adwijiwka? Why nobody loves me?

Re: Russia-Ukraine War
yep, it's also fun to maybe ask what's a "win" scenario that Russians see.
Unfortunately those I know who pro war can't answer.
But I get a feeling, they expect respect, admiration from the West, lifted sanctions, removal of the arrest orders.
That's the regular people.
Kremlin's "win" scenario even more in fascist fantasy.

Re: Russia-Ukraine War
The only "respect" russian people would get is if they get rid of Putin and appologize for the terrorism and damage done to Ukraine and start paying reparations. Everything else is delusional - right now Russia is not even on the level of North Korea (laughing stock) but indeed the villain #1 on this planet. If the Ukraine invasion is not ended by Russia in the above mentioned way, russian people are shunned for decades. There is no "respect" earned for slaughtering the neighbor. Guess they are reading the wrong books..

If indeed UKR is behind the fire - after long break, they have finally struck again against an economical target:
https://www.rferl.org/a/russia-gas-term ... 85378.html
The reason I write "if" is due to the fact that oligarch class running Russia now are not the types of people to invest in maintenance and fire prevention if that means one trip less with prostitutes.

In Bashkiria there was a mass protest, against a court case and for somewhat independence. It fizzeled out, but it's note worthy. Also note worthy are incoming repressions against those people.
The moral of the story, you either protest to the end or you die. There's no such thing as peaceful protest in Russia.

Either it's fakery, Russia hit Donetsk intentionally or Ukraine did for some reason, the war is inching closer to Russia.
Once it's in Russia maybe we can discuss next steps.
Is it goes with Donetsk, none of this can ever be verified, not until Putin's regime remains.Donetsk: Deadly blast hits market in Russia-held Ukraine city, officials say
At least 27 people have been killed in a shelling attack in the Russian-held city of Donetsk, the Moscow-installed leader of the region says.
Denis Pushilin described the strike on a busy market as "horrendous", and said the number of casualties could rise.
A Ukrainian army group operating in the region said it did not carry out the attack. Mr Pushilin blamed Ukraine.
BBC News was not able to immediately verify the circumstances around the strike.
Photographs published by Reuters news agency appeared to show destroyed shop fronts, as well as bodies lying in the street.
According to AFP, a local resident named Tatiana told local media she heard an incoming projectile overhead, and hid under her market stall.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Tavria unit - part of the Ukrainian army - said its forces "did not engage in combat operations in this case".
It continued: "Donetsk is Ukraine! Russia will have to be held accountable for the lives of Ukrainians taken."

Could have been an assassination attempt etc...? Russia's still killing Ukrainians in occupied territories. Running pedestrians over with tanks, denying medication, etc... without consequence. Not sure how they can tell Russians from non Russians since there are Russian civilians in occupied areas. Russian colonists moving into occupied areas.

Russian anti aircraft missile factory hit in Tula ~near Moscow.
https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/uk ... r-BB1h1nk1
Russia might be changing it's defence strategy in anticipation of f16 planes and/or the loss of the awac plane weakened their defences a lot. Ukraine still seems to be prepping occupied areas for further operations.
Russia might be experiencing a manpower shortage or shortage of skilled workers? Power outages, stuff failing, etc...
More attacks on Russia military bases/navy.
Avdiivka still slowly being advanced upon by Russia at a great cost. Seems more like a trap.
US Republicans still tying up Ukraine aid in support of Russia.
US preparing for a longer war in Yemen.
New aid packages from Poland.
Germany declines to provide more Taurus missiles even though manufacturer says they can increase production by quite a bit. Countries still refusing to crush Russia?

Re: Russia-Ukraine War
Russians can't because they consider all loyal to the regime to be "Russians". I have read before that Ukrainians were forced to give Ukrainian passport, and apply for Russian one.
In the quote, Ukrainians refer to all living in Donbass as Ukrainians, people who rightfully live there. I am not sure anyone counted or can count how many moved in from Russia.
But since it's Donbass we can't know who died there and if anyone did.
Good stuff. Seems like a good plan of attack. Military factories are big and well known to locals, there are a few of those in big cities. Can't defend them all or anyburger1 wrote: ↑Mon, 22. Jan 24, 20:05 Russian anti aircraft missile factory hit in Tula ~near Moscow.

They are all humans living there, that is the only relevant classification. Nationalities and ethnicities are (or should be) meaningless.fiksal wrote: ↑Tue, 23. In some kind of ideal world yes.
One of the reasons for this war, its justification, and the reason common folk are behind, is nationality. That Ukrainians are Russians who forgot how to be Russian. Therefore they need to be forcefully taught.
Sort of an ethnic cleansing mentality

Yes, but one of the things that characterizes humans, is our ability to make up stories and the idea of nations is one of those stories that gets us into a lot of trouble.

Sweden is closer to being in NATO. Turkey just needs to sign some stuff in the next two weeks. Hungary is still holding out.

Russia's unique way of getting rid of people

While Kremlin is preparing what to say, that guy already knows exactly what happened.
Dont draw relation here, but googling that guy Andrey Kartapolov yields interesting results. He'd be in the loop or responsible for missile taking down the Malaysian Airlines Boeing plane.

At this point we could say whether it's incompetence or malace it's unknown and leave it at that. Even though sometimes they are indistinguishable in Russia.A military transport plane that Russia said was carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war crashed Wednesday near the Ukraine border, killing all those on board, Russian authorities said.
And now we maybe know how it was taken down by the Russian military. Russian politicians do tend to describe what Russian Army does by only changing one word, for a Ukrainian, but the rest fits nicely.A team has been sent to the crash site to investigate the cause of the incident, it added.
“Everyone on board died,” Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, said in a statement on Telegram, adding that the plane “fell in a field near a populated area.”
He did not say if anyone on the ground was killed or elaborate on the cause of the crash.
The Kremlin was looking into the situation, its spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
The chair of the Russian parliament’s defense committee, Andrey Kartapolov, said that the plane was was shot down by three air defense missiles of a type supplied to Ukraine by its Western allies.
