Re: U.S. Presidential Election 2024
Mmmm so now that the shooter has been identified, his background appears to be that of a RWNJ and a supporter, if not a member, of one of those far right "militia" nutter clusters. Intredasting... very intredasting. Can only speculate why he'd turn on dear leader, but these nutters do have a tendency to turn on each other.

1. What the actual heck, America.
2. Surely this is going to cause more fervour on the right, and therefore more division.
3. I can't help but feel this is going to actually help his campaign...?

Of course it will. Anytime someone farts in their presence is the deep state, radical left, hillary, whatever's fault. They are all so far detached from reality that there's nothing that can't be used as fodder to enrage them.

Re: U.S. Presidential Election 2024
The saddest thing right now is nobody care that one bystander got killed and two are gravely wounded - all they got is a footnote somewhere in the background in the news corner.
Who the hell though it's a good idea to seat people behind?
Especially in gun rich environment like US?
Someone might say that US is stable democracy "blah blah blah", but yet you assign Secret Service just in case.
Could you NOT seat people behind in trajectory of potential sniper, JUST IN CASE?

Re: U.S. Presidential Election 2024
Yeah, the US is not a stable democracy. It hasn’t been for a very long time.
Honestly, there’s hardly anything democratic about it. There’s only two political parties, red and blue. If it were a real democracy, there would be quite a few, and plenty of candidates to consider. Sadly the people in politics are stuck in the old ways, and don’t understand that democracy needs to be able to grow freely. Parties should be able to be made and added to the run for presidency, even if they’re stupid or pointless. That’s what the qualifying things are for anyways, filter it down to who would actually be a good, or at least real choice to be president. Worst case scenario, the people don’t really do much in the actual voting for who enters office.
Regarding the shooting, it’s horrible that others were hurt in someone’s attempt to assassinate Trump. While I certainly don’t agree with Trump, and hope he steps on a Lego brick or something, I don’t want him to be assassinated. Nobody should have to worry about if they’re going to be shot at.
Plus, if Trump died, I’m pretty sure it would’ve caused another civil war. Honestly, I get the feeling it still could, because Trump’s fanatics will be Trump’s fanatics. The last thing they need is a legitimate reason to go crazy(er).
On the bright side, though it’s really just the “faint glow” side, at least future presidents and candidates should hopefully be a lot safer, though I fear it’ll result in something dystopian.
Also, I live pretty close to where the shooting happened, south of Pittsburgh, which is pretty much only Trump’s fanatics living there, so I’m actually pretty worried about the civil war thing, because I’m surrounded by very many crazy people.

Re: U.S. Presidential Election 2024
US calls itself a representative democracy, accent is on the first.
I recall reading a paper that a two party system is not a coincidental, it's intended going all the way back to the Constitution. In short it's about not trusting those that are not landowners and outsiders from governing.
As an American, I feel safer not living in America. One either needs to make an effort to make a country better or move to where there are more people that have views closer to yours.

People should start taking Xanax and let go social media - coz there is no paraller world where it wouldn't end very bad, if the assasination was succesful.
It's not Russia, where you can take a shot at politician - in the matter of fact, both Russia and China would be delighted, if this could spark a civil war.
If you can in one breath wish someone death and feel pity for bystander victims, then congratulation, you have became an extremist who goes with "end justify the means".

Gimme a break, who. You didn't care when George Floyd was executed by police. In fact, you went out of your way multiple times to claim we had "fake outrage", along with some other seriously questionable borderline racist remarks over the whole situation. Neither did you care for those that were murdered by jan 6 rioters. Yet again, you went out of your way to defend the animals. Don't sit here and pretend you care that a bystander was killed or pass judgement on anyone for their feelings on the matter. I don't believe that you do care, except that maybe the bystander was possibly someone that shared your worldy views.
Reap what you sow.

And this makes me wrong in what way?
No matter, if it's Floyd or Trump or any of their crazy followers, I bet it will be all worth it after violence spiral out of control - every commie and nazi in history was like that - just one more body and we will achive utopia.
You don't want civil war unless you're insane.

At the very least it makes you a hypocrite, and that's the nicest thing it makes you.
You have no idea what the situation is really like over here. I'm glad you get to watch it from the other side of the planet, all safe and cozy far away from all this. No one wants any of this except for the people you seem to keep siding with. But when it comes, we'll be ready to respond in kind.

If US civil war would started, there would be no safe place on this planet.
Floyd death claimed many more lives and many months of riots.
If not wanting to see this amplified x100, after Trump assasination makes me hypocrite, then I can live it with.
With the emphasis on LIVE - unlike those who are dead or deranged, wanting to set world on fire.

Re: U.S. Presidential Election 2024
The irony of saying people need to take zanax and leave alone social media... when they then spout off about how it would be civil wars, violence and more -- as if this *is* social media, in the exact vein of the current *trend* on social media, should not be lost nor overlooked.
It's apparently a registered Republican who was at the trigger; Republicans have long been fanning the flames of division, a history of causing an attempted insurrection, told "Proud boys" to stand down and so on.

Indeed, sir. Indeed.
Though, it was "stand back and stand by" not stand down told to the proud boys. But that was also just another in the long list of greatest hits like, "Very fine people", "Shit hole country", "I don't see why it would be him (Putin)", etc.

Re: U.S. Presidential Election 2024
He apparently was a registered Democrat the year prior.
Personally, he doesn't look like the type to immediately do something this crazy, so I can't help but wonder why he did it. I believe he also received an award from his school for excelling in both math and science, so he clearly wasn't some deadbeat, or someone who wanted to just mindlessly kill.
Obviously, I'm not defending his actions, just to clarify, I'm just confused as to what drove him to do such a thing. Something mental perhaps? But I'm sure there'd be records of such behavior, or oddities. Unless there are, but they're not public at this time.
It's disturbing that he managed to get such a good shot, possibly another hit in Trump's gut, which thankfully the vest protected him from, despite having no training. ...Guess the math and science paid off... Unless, I hate to be tossing conspiracy theories around, someone instructed him or whatever.
In any case, the whole situation is just odd and suspicious, and thank god the shooter was dealt with as quick as he was.

Yeah you're right. I misremembered. He only donated.
Still though, it implies he at least agreed with some of their views. Or maybe it for something else...

Nothing like a bit of false gossip to get the juices flowing,,,,, Thank God he was shot or we would have had a good ole republican lynching mob.
