Microsoft updated its support page to warn users not to run Windows 11 on an unsupported PC, but the company also has official instructions on installing the operating system on devices that don't meet minimum requirements. Generally, that means PCs with a TPM 2.0 chip — a security chip required for Windows 11.
Great idea - in theory. As always, people who know what they are doing benefit from that. All other will end up with problems and flood the internet with "Help!" requests. Warnings and "detailed instruction" are not worth the paper / screen space used to show it. (for the casual user)

Abysmal. "No" should mean "no". I have TPM disabled, because I did trust MS to stay away due to that.

The reaction to his death is still ongoing:
UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty — who was Thompson's boss — wrote in a New York Times op-ed published Friday that the company recognizes "the health system does not work as well as it should, and we understand people's frustrations with it."

It's easy to see why there are people who are frustrated.

Facebook is a swamp right now for those glorifying the murderer and threatening McDonald's employees. Why am I suddenly targeted with these ads? I blocked about 40 just yesterday. And unfriended one.

Reminds me of the glorification of murderer by Kyle Rittenhouse.

On the one hand yes, on the other hand I am a bit surprised this doesn’t happen more often. I pay 260€ a month for my insurance in Germany and have yet to find a single thing they did not cover (so far for all of my adult life they have covered every single medical bill 100%). (This includes medical bills I had while living outside the EU in an African country.) The idea of having to pay some of the healthcare bills Americans have to deal with is a bit insane. Try to implement the American system in any country with socialized healthcare and you will have massive riots.

There are no riots because Americans think this is the best system, even the ones who cant afford the doctor think that. My own family in US thinks so, and no they cant afford one often.

In a way it happens more, just elsewhere. Go fund me, poverty, homelessness. Add to that recipe a relaxed gun laws, and we get shootings, school shootings.

A bit of a brutal video, but on point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNghg1Y-WIc
Funny it doesnt even cover all the issues.

Both Mangione and Rittenhouse should be in jail. Insurance companies are in it to make money so, I can understand if people get frustrated:
Restricting access to health care through tools like claim denials and prior authorization, which requires that insurers approve the care in advance, are among the ways that health insurers try to weed out care that’s not medically necessary or not backed by scientific evidence – but it can also increase their profit margins.

Indeed, they should be!

I get nauseous reading what the second one is up to, equally nauseous seeing how glorifying violence and harassment is spreading through, I will put in heavy quotes, "liberal" online spaces. They are just trolls only from another side. Removed one friend the other day, I don't have patience for this anymore.

About insurance, of course they are there to make money, that's how capitalism works. I am impressed with people who think otherwise.

I keep wanted to tell people who think public healthcare is a bad idea but complain about private insurance - this is what you wanted!

Insurance companies have every incentive to deny health care because it's good for profits. Just ask Brian Thompson.
According to personal finance website ValuePenguin – which used federal data from 2022 to compile in-network claim denial rates by companies offering plans on at least some Affordable Care Act exchanges – UnitedHealthcare denied nearly one-third of claims, topping the list.

I'm curious you do realize that we pay insurance for our health care in the UK just like everyone else, we don't get our health care for free as some seem to think, it's just that it is tied to our earnings and comes off our wages just like tax does, also rather than going to a greedy insurance company to pay shareholders and bonuses it goes directly to our government, it probably means we pay less than say the US citizens do, but we still have to pay all the same.

Everything healthcare related costs less just about everywhere than the US. This is what happens when crap gets privatized.

I think everyone on this forum knows that.

I currently reside in Canada that has a similar system

I'm guessing that by next week the topic will be gone from the headlines and that means nothing will change:
Many patients, advocacy groups and industry experts say the industry and U.S. health-care system are flawed or broken entirely, often disadvantaging Americans who simply need care.

I am not so about that. For some reason they seem to be aiming to build this guy up as some Marvel level villain. Just look at the picture from when he arrived at court, you may think that he the punisher or something. What is going to do? Fry them with his laser eyes?

It was meant for the American amongst us, as they are the ones that keep saying the UK has free health care.

Interesting interview, discussing what people say publicly vs. privately:
Thompson's murder is one symptom of the American appetite for violence. His line of work is another.

Terrorist attack in Germany injures at least 60 people and leaves at least two people dead as a car drives through a Christmas market. The attacker was a Saudi citizen and medical doctor. The motive seems to have been conspiracy theories/terrorism, the attacker was a staunch critic of Islam and felt that Germany was driving the Islamification of Europe and seemingly saw the German police as one of his main enemies. He was also a staunch supporter of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and Elon Musk.

Source for his motive (German language, sorry, will add English in the future): https://www.tagesspiegel.de/politik/sau ... 15310.html
