Overall, that is classic "broken phone" game. Everyone passes the message onwards with their "original take". However, if the "embellishment" is intentional tiny lies that are used to distort the message and are predicted to make the untrue version viral, then isn't that "hybrid warfare" that sows seeds of distrust and fear?

The Gripen has 'murican engine and apparently part vendors have contractual right to dictate where the planes can be sold.
(Speculation is that certain country would rather have Colombia buy F16 planes.)

Ukraine is using it to show that it has natural resources to trade with and to trade them the country needs to be free to grow, invest and not be under constant threat of attack or missile strikes.

Trump just wants money and appears to not grasp what territory that is even.

and that territory is partly held by Ukraine, partly by Russia.

It's goofier if you look at Russian version of that map.

Bad week for US diplomats for sure. They have to work really hard after this week to clean up this mess. I'd say the oval office is burned for the next few weeks - would surprise me if there are a lot of foreign guests in the near future.

Other than that - I'm with clakclak. Can't really say what's the US endgame here. It doesn't look like "make america great again". Hope US citizens somehow wake up what this week alone did to them.

One thing is clear from the meeting, is that Zelenskyy needs to stop telling us that we will feel the wrath of Putin unless we help Ukraine defeat Russia. That tactic is wearing thin, and Trump isn't buying it.

Zelenskyy may be able to return to the US, when he is serious about peace and honest about the reality of Ukraine's position (which deteriorates daily). Otherwise, it seems that Ukraine will no longer be a priority for the US. If Ukraine misses this opportunity for peace, they will see more of their country and their people lost.

Can't really say what's the US endgame here.

I'm starting to see a picture here:
- Doge stuff cutting funding all across the board
- Tarrif conflicts with everyone
- recently Trump proposed 50% military budget cuts to Russia and China
- now they are looking for a reason to cut ties with Ukraine or going for colonial style resource deal

You really should start looking through this and see what is happening here [in Europe]. The US is getting isolated from former allies and trading partners. This isn't about Ukraine alone, don't let yourself get trapped in that narrative. Open your eyes and see the potential new "allies" of the US once Trump broke ties to all the countries around him.

I think that's the best and preferable scenario. For US to stand back and do nothing.

The other scenario is that US allies itself with Russia and helps Russia. Which to me seems a very not zero chance. If anything I think US is looking to help finance the war by removing sanctions.


I think if Ukraine makes the deal on Trump's terms, there is a greater chance to lose its people and the country than there's now. Trump's terms still, all this time, only mean unconditional surrender. No security guarantee is very important for the Russian invasion to succeed.

But considering the whole bit about election repeated by US directly from Russian propaganda, the "peace" proposal by Trump is very much in quotes. Because it has a very strong condition - for who?

You know the answer too. The just had a meeting about this recently and are right now probably feeling that the objectives of the meeting are moving along nicely.
