OOS is a completely different matter. Why not focus on one thing at a time, you are all over the place. I don't think speed factors too much into OOS combat. Also, I don't know that your statement is even true. I have yet to see them lose in OOS, and who are they losing too? They aren't fighting the other factions. If you mean losing to Xenon, well most lose to xenon OOS depending on fleet makeup.AsadullinIF wrote: ↑Thu, 18. Mar 21, 14:37Well, in the OOS battles the terrans lose quite often. I dont know, where is the STRENGTH? Super-economy again =)))?BlackRain wrote: ↑Thu, 18. Mar 21, 14:30Terran ships are stronger than other factions, the speed factor doesn't change that. In a battle between the AI, speed is hardly going to matter. I just am finding the speed for my own personal use to be slow, but then again I can just give them different engines. I wasn't sure if I could build the different faction engines with only terran products though. If I can, then that is fine honestly.AsadullinIF wrote: ↑Thu, 18. Mar 21, 14:25
OH NO! What is happening? Are the terran ships not so good as you are trying to describe them? It is clearly gamedesign-balancing flaw. It is a bug. And it is need to be fixed.

There is a beta hotfix update already available. However, your opinion on the matter notwithstanding, we have no plans to change the Terran ship speeds because, as has been previously explained, they have other advantages.

Sad to hear that. Could you give a hint what these hidden advantages are?

It won't have much of an effect on the Terrans. As for the player, just give your ships faster engines if u want.

Re: Why Terran ships are so slow?
Katana is fast AF.
500 speed for a "Frigate" and nearly 5k travel speed unmodded.
What i don't understand however is why are frigates faster than fighters/scouts?

Well, I mean, any ship could possibly be faster than another depending on how large it is and how many engines or how large/powerful the engines are, etc. It isn't like something large can't be faster than something small in space.

Doesn't make sense from a gameplay perspective though. Why would i get a scout to scout when i could get a frigate that's twice as fast?

Scout is cheap, you can buy one real easy and they are expendable. No need to upgrade them too much. Frigates are expensive I guess. I haven't used the Katana yettaztaz502 wrote: ↑Thu, 18. This is why i wish ships had more specialised roles, so they don't become redundant once money is no longer an issue.BlackRain wrote: ↑Thu, 18. As for the katana its a great ship, i think it was designed to be a "Player" ship only downside i've found so far is shield regen is slow, so i'll try mod it see if i can get any significant improvements.

Im a big fan of black markets, which requires scanning stations... i dont know if you have tried scanning stations in an M sized ship, it ain't fun, or easy. A small ship is way better for that... or for anything that requires being nimble. Different ships fill different roles. Same thing for getting pilots to bail... it is lightyears easier to get em to bail in a small ship. The asp raider is probably the best ship, IMO, for getting pilots to bail, compared to a large ship.taztaz502 wrote: ↑Thu, 18. Mar 21, 21:16Doesn't make sense from a gameplay perspective though. I still quite like the Nodan for small ships... speedy, good shield slots and hull with two foward weapons, i think its one of the best heavy scouts.grapedog wrote: ↑Fri, 19. Re: Why Terran ships are so slow?
Question to those who says the Terrans L/XL ships are very slow compared to the rest, did you compared it in game? From what I can see at least in OOS when comparing my Syn with a Rattlesnake and Behemoth, I gave an order for them to move from one jumpgate to another and I found that, even though the Syn was positioned behind the other two, due to its short spooling time and fast acceleration, it actually reached the point first. Another similar test I did, the Syn did not engage travel time the same time as the other two but was only around 30 seconds behind. So just looking at the pure stats really give a proper comparison. I'm not sure about in sector/ if I'm piloting it myself, but for the latter, because of the short spool and attack thrusts I can probably arrive even faster. So yeah, I hope the devs doesn't change the stats, the L engines is likely my go to from now on.

Just flown the Katana, with split engines. 940+. So its fast.
However !
Couldn't see a thing below to the front !
Half the screen is all cockpit.
Not much use if you can not see !
Was hoping it would replace my Alligator as a fast run around. but it would be better suted for underground mining.

No argument here, Nodan is probably #2 overall for me behind only the asp raider as an every day flier.soladept wrote: ↑Fri, 19. In my brand new game, since PIO has such lousy rep with SPL factions, i got a nodan pretty soon after getting chucked across the map during the story. Great ship!
