There are two possibilities, either Lavrov was too drunk at that party or Trump administration is on drugs.

more so, while every English news source is quoting Witkoff, none of pro Kremlin sources mention the security guarantees when they quote him.

perhaps he should read Putin's actual statement at the end. I can link it if you want to read that word salad. Putin talks about US wanting to understand Russia's security concerns, the real reason for the conflict and the "pain" that Ukrainians have caused. He does talk about security for Ukrainians after the war - that's the demilitarization topic. No mention of US or Europeans providing that.

I thought it was clear, Russia knows Trump is totally TACO. The US can make a security guarantee saying "if you touch Ukraine again after this agreement, we will intervene", but Putin has already seen that trump's threats are all hot air.

After a few years, maybe less, Russia will attack again and America will say "if you don't stop within two weeks we'll sanction you", knowing fully that they'll do no such thing. Trump's two weeks never expire.

If that means that Coalition of the Willing will have troops on the ground, that's a progress. It is of course exactly what Kremlin said they wouldn't allow, but Europe should never ask the permission

Russia's and US fake commitment to security guarantees are taken literally by everyone else it seems. Take what Trump's admin said and go full throttle seems like an interesting strategy. Make something fake a reality

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that Russia does not see any possibility for a compromise on the issue of deploying foreign peacekeepers in Ukraine. He noted that in such a case, Western countries will not want to agree on the terms of a peaceful settlement, since this contingent will create "facts on the ground." NATO membership is impossible. However, special envoy Steve Witkoff says that Putin has agreed to security guarantees for Ukraine.

We got to an agreement (from Putin) that the United States and other European nations could effectively offer Article 5-like language to cover a security guarantee...Putin staunchly opposes Ukraine joining Nato, and Witkoff says this arrangement could be an alternative if "the Ukrainians could live with that".

Hopefully, Ukraine will accept the reality and acquiesce to a non-NATO solution. Ukraine will also have to go along with the loss of land that Russia has taken. This has been obvious for a very long time and is as good as it is going to get.

Russia attacked a civilian factory in western Ukraine owned by US company Flex Ltd, causing a massive fire and wounding at least 19 people.

Local authorities said that at around 4:40 a.m. local time, two Russian cruise missiles hit the company’s premises in Mukachevo.

- Ukraine gives up the Donbas (currently they still control around 12% of it)
- Other frontlines get frozen
- Russia gives up the small parts of Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk they control
- There will be no western troops stationed in Ukraine
- No NATO membership for Ukraine
- If Ukraine refuses, the war will continue
